One thing that I've often wondered (and asked once in the MoH threads, with no definitive answer ever being produced) is how the mini-unlock is intended to be used?

Specifically, is the player supposed to supply the right mini to get the unlock, or can I, as the GM, bring the proper minis, and supply them to the players to unlock the benefits?

I can kinda see it going either way, frankly. On the one hand, the unlock should be "special" and be something the player "acheives" by having the right mini. Conversely, however, it seems kinda silly to expect a player to show up to an RPGA event with the right minis for all the possible fastplay characters - just in case they end up "taking one for the team".

Clarification? Anyone?

If the player uses the mini as their mini on the board, they get the unlock ability. Who brought the mini is immaterial.

Ok I'll bite. What's a mini unlock? What rewards are you talking about? Is this something obvious I've just overlooked?

Thanks!

If you play a fastplay character, it is assigned a specific miniature from the D&D Minis collection. If you use that particular mini when playing that character, you get a little extra bonus for the character: perhaps some extra equipment, or an added ability, etc.

And if you take said caracter as your own and play that character beyond first level does the mini-unlock still apply?

I want to know about mimi unlocks past 1st lvl..for instance the barbarian FP has the alternate class feature of berserker strength which acitivates when you HP's drop below 5x your berserker lvl..

the mini unlock bonus says that you go into beserker strength below 6hp rather than 5..so would that translate to 6x berserker lvl as the character advances, or is the mini bonus just for 1st level ?

We were just talking about that at a meeting last night and we hope to have an answer for you by the next CS. At the moment, it seems likely, though you may pay some additional cost to keep the ability once you start using the fastplay as your main PC.
