| jeffpicard09-04-06, 07:10 PM | Since it was mentioned that other ones have errors, I thought it best to start a new thread, and go character by character and list anything that doesn't fit the normal rules as modified by the CS guidelines. The factionmasters have been really good about replying to us in general so I fell better about getting these fixed than the MoH errors that stayed in the whole time despite posts like this Any Errors I miss someone mention and I'll edit them into the main body for a central location These are from the "all download" by file name I haven't added up all the gear costs and weights, if those are done I'll add it. Most are listed as having 4 AP, don't we only get 3 here, unless we put 4 cards in our stack... Assuming it's Maximum listed I'll call out when it's off of the 4 Suggest that all of them be listed as 3/4 (or 5/7 in the case of Heroic spirit) This is a work in progress, if the filename isn't listed that means I have not yet gotten to that file fx_xe_arc1 (Human Fighter Archer) Ability scores: only 24 points spent Greatclub attack: should be +3 (+1 BAB +2 STR) Dagger attack: should be +3 (+1 BAB +2 STR) fp_xe_brb1 (Half-Orc Barbarian) Berserker Strength: you should lose the Rage ability for this, also the mini unlock being at one extra hitpoint is kinda not very helpful as DBlizzard said Dagger Note: Potentially confusing, suggest "Attack bonus only +1 when thrown" fp_xe_bw_ftr1 (Blackwheel Gnoll Fighter) AP: 3 See note at beginning Greateclub: Greatclub Dagger note: see note for Half-orc barbarian Skills: Missing skill points, PHB 62: All characters have a minimum of 4 skill points at 1st level, even if they have an intellegence penalty Languages: No languages are listed, not even Gnoll (I suggest spending 2 of those 2 minimum to get Common) fp_xe_bw_rgr1 (Blackwheel Warforged Scout Ranger) AC: 10+2+5+1=18 not 15 Flat Footed AC should be 13 (+2 fromplating and +1 size) and touch should be 16 (+5 dex +1 size) AP: 3 See note at beginning Longbow Damage: you apply a Strength penalty to damage with a Bow, Damage should be 1d6-2 Greatclub Damage: 1½*-2 is not -1, but you should only get to improve the Bonus by weilding it 2-handed, Damage should be 1d8-2 (or if you insist on applying the 1½ 1d8-3) Dagger note: it should only be +7 when thrown (+1 to that and to damage within 30 feet) Languages: Too many languages: Unless Warforged scouts get bonus languages that regualr WF do not, they can only receive bonus languages granted by class (ranger doesn't offer any) and purchase them with skill points Grapple: the final total of +-5 is awkward, just leave it as -5 fp_xe_bw_rgr1b (Blackwheel Human Ranger) AP: 3 See note at beginning Skills: Skill points are underspent by 7 (Tumble is a cross class skill, making the total number spent 21, there should be 28) Glaive Damage: should be 1d10+1, a+1 str bonus only gives the same +1 with 2-handing for 1½ Mark of Finding: Should mention which Spell like ability is possessed and uses per day (some are 2/day though most are 1/ important info to know for one without the ECS) fp_xe_bw_sct1 (blackwheel shifter scout) AP: 3 See note at beginning Languages: Too many languages, Int bonus is +1 and 2 bonus languages are chosen, no skill points appear to be spent on it AC: the Non-Flat footed AC's may need a note about being +1 while shifted fp_xe_cc_brd1 (crimson codex half-elf bard) Missing Half-Elf's racial bonuses of +1 to Listen, Search and Spot and +2 to Diplomacy and Gather Information. Don't know if Elven Blood should be listed somewhere (it's kind of obvious...but it can't hurt to list it). fp_xe_cc_wiz1 Underspent skill points by 1 (23 out of 24) Starting EV should be 150 gp = 120 for class + 30 for Craft bonus. Quarterstaff damage should be 1d6-1, and there should be a separate entry for using it as a double weapon. quaterstaff as double weapon: -5/-9 damage 1d6-1/1d6-1 feats: "Scrib Scroll" should be "Scribe Scroll". No restricted school is listed. Based on the missing 0-level spells it seems to be Necromancy Under Specialty school, it should say "+2 bonus" not "-2 bonus" for Spellcraft checks. Should have 10 1st level spells: 3 base + 3 for Int modifier + 4 for ranks in Spellcraft. The table lists 6 spells known; only 5 spells are listed in the 1st level entry, but the number should be 10. the Table lists 19 0-level spells, only 17 are known (see note on Necromancy for the missing 2) fp_xe_cl_knt1 (covenant of light aasimar knight) AP: 3 See note at beginning Skills climb +-7 should just read -7 Hide 0-9=-9 not 0 Knights challenge-fighting challenge should detail the bonus as +1(the fastplays tend to look like they're written to be usable by someone who doesn't have the book) and activated as a swift action fp_xe_clr1 (half-elf cleric) NOTE: while this is listed under the Covenant postion in the Fastplay page, the faction is NOT on the character cheet, and the faction bonus is Not listed in the special abilities like it is for the knight the filename also does not agree with other faction limited fastplays leading me to not mention the faction above Mace, Heavry should be heavy Spells: the typical 1st level spells are listed on the 2nd level lines, and too many are prepared (none of those 3 is a domain spell, though ptotection from evil is marked with an asterisk) Skills: while not technically an error I ask why would a cleric put ranks into Kn Arcana but not Kn Religion? fp_xe_cs_dsk1 Cabal of shadows teifling duskblade AP 5 with the heroic spirit feat this is consistent with the 3 end of the specturm See note at beginning Skills: Skill points spent as 16 I don't have a PHB II but I know the class has to have some, Skill are underspent as Class base Value * 4 Special abilities: resistance ot fire... should be resistance to fire Languages: are aquatic and daelkyr being treated as bonus languages for teiflings? (the foremer isn't mentioned in the Monster Manual, the latter isn't either but is logical to add since it's a campaign setting only language) if not this could account for some skill points, (2 each) but would leave the character short on languages fp_xe_cs_sor1 cabal of shadows drow sorcerer AP 1: I assume this is to account for the fact that to otherwise play a drow you have to use a campaign card? no real problenms that I note in that case fp_xe_drd1 (elf druid) Will save should total +4, +2 base, not +0 First level spells should be 1 with 1 bonus spell (total number is correct Like the wizardQuarterstaf should be listed as just 1d6 and a second entry for a double weapon (-4/-8 1d6/1d6) fp_xe_ftr1 Human Fighter Dragonmarked anywhere! with no AP reduction to simulate the card normally required? Shortspear and Longsword attack bonus doesn't include -2 penalty for having a readied tower shield. Dex modifier to AC is listed as +2 instead of +1, but total is correct. fp_xe_mnk1 Human monk AC Dex mod listred as +01 Flat footed AC should be 11 (wisdom bonus applies even when Flat) Skills 18 points spent out of 20, need more skill points(languages are correct so that doesn't account for the 2) Shuriken: Damage should be 1d2+1 (you get your str to damage wqith thrown weapons, and shuriken are NOT an exception to this in 3.5) fp_xe_pal1 Human Paladin Skills, unless education also make them trainder checks, the bonus to nobilkity and royalty is pointless without ranks (the total should be unlisted in that case Bastard sward, two handed: sward should be sword fp_xe_rgr1 Elf Ranger Nothing I can see (Yeay!) fp_xe_rog1 Human rogue languages Goblinoid should just be Goblin fp_xe_rog1b Changling rogue Ability Scores: Overspent, (27 points there) Skills underspent by 7, there are 26 in the skill table, and extra languages for a total of 29 skill points spent: a 1st level rogue with int +1 would have (8+1=9)*4=36 Skill points ok, that's all of them, I'll edit in any other errors other folks point out, but beyond that I'm done for now :-) |
| dreamwolf09-04-06, 07:23 PM | fp_xe_drd1 (elf druid) Will save should total +4, +2 base, not +0 Should have a level 1 bonus spell |
| jeffpicard09-04-06, 07:49 PM | aack, missed checking the base saves before (may have to go back, but definatly taking a bit of a break for the evening, there's more time tomorrow) |
| ajpopp09-04-06, 08:30 PM | fp_xe_bw_rgr1b (Balckwheel Human Ranger) Skills: Skill points are overspent by 1 (Tumble is a cross class skill) Mark of Finding: Should mention which Spell like ability is possessed and uses per day Actually, I calculate that skill points are underspent by 7 (including the increased cost for Tumble). A human ranger with Int of 10 should get 28 skill points at level 1 (6x4=24 for class, +4 for human). I see only 21 spent. Also, Glaive damage should be 1d10+1, since 2-handing it won't increase the Str damage (+1 x 1.5=1.5, rounded down =1). The Dragonmark feat ought to include which least mark, it's true. It is listed under the miniature unlock section, but probably ought to be with the feat as well. -Al |
| DBlizzard09-04-06, 08:44 PM | fp_xe_brb1 (Half-Orc Barbarian) where's Berserker Strength from? does it not replace something a standard barbarian gets? I assume it's the PHB II alternate feature, or a raial sub level, but I don't see anything missing, so I ask Yes, it's normally a PHB II alternate class feature, but it seems that the barbarian only gets it as a bonus of its miniature unlock ability. |
| ajpopp09-04-06, 08:59 PM | fp_xe_bw_rgr1 Skill points underspent by 8. Should have 28 skill points, not 20. |
| jeffpicard09-04-06, 09:03 PM | Yes, it's normally a PHB II alternate class feature, but it seems that the barbarian only gets it as a bonus of its miniature unlock ability. What do you lose for it? and the mini unlock causes it to activate at 6 instead of 5, so it's not a mini unlock in itself |
| ajpopp09-04-06, 09:06 PM | fp_xe_cc_brd1 Missing Half-Elf's racial bonuses of +1 to Listen, Search and Spot and +2 to Diplomacy and Gather Information. Don't know if Elven Blood should be listed somewhere (it's kind of obvious...but it can't hurt to list it). |
| ajpopp09-04-06, 09:22 PM | Underspent skill points by 1. Starting EV should be 150 gp = 120 for class + 30 for Craft bonus. Quarterstaff damage should be 1d6-1, and there should be a separate entry for using it as a double weapon. It's not -1 to hit for 1d6/1d6 damage: it's -1 to hit for 1d6-1 damage. I'm not sure it's even worth figuring out the modifiers for going double weapon, but hey, if someone wants to take the time, be our guest! Under feats, "Scrib Scroll" should be "Scribe Scroll". No restricted school is listed. Under Specialty school, it should say "+2 bonus" not "-2 bonus" for Spellcraft checks. Should have 10 1st level spells: 3 base + 3 for Int modifier + 4 for ranks in Spellcraft. The table lists 6 spells known; only 5 spells are listed in the 1st level entry, but the number should be 10. |
| kiddoc09-04-06, 09:29 PM | Hey, thanks for the list. It's a good starting place for us to update them. No fair having disagreement in your own list! You want 1 less skill point or 8 more, sheesh. :D Make up your minds! Hehehe. As for the scrib scroll--that's actually correct. It should be under "Items" however. It's the original art for the MTG card "Scryb Sprites." The wizard apparently has a side hobby and likes to keep himself busy during those adventuring downtimes. Same with the "Specialty School" it's a -2 bonus. Remember, you're not given your grades in school, you EARN them. Let's just say, high Int or not, this guy was NOT at the top of his class. Just like law school though, even the bottom 5% of the class get the good jobs. :P |

It's the original art for the MTG card "Scryb Sprites." The wizard apparently has a side hobby and likes to keep himself busy during those adventuring downtimes. in that case he's also missing Scribe Scroll, all wizards get this as a bonus feat at 1st level Same with the "Specialty School" it's a -2 bonus. | kiddoc09-04-06, 10:41 PM | and just working on this list has made me appreciate you four even more it's a lot of work to make everything you've done We, WE. :D Everybody pitched in. Again, division of labor. Let me explain. Wait, there is no time, let me sum up: Brian: Blame guy Shawn: Praise guy Greg: Team disciplinarian. We also refer to him as "Capn' Spank." August: What the hell does August do? I think he organizes the yearly factionmaster shirtless calendar... or something? And, yes, you've cleverly fallen for my plan. You should know better than to follow a shrink's orders. :schemes: Hehehe. I do appreciate the list though. And don't worry about our RPGA web-slave. He's a fellow rugger like myself--he can handle any abuse we can throw at him. After all is said and done, I'll buy him a beer or two and things will be right as rain. :D |
| DBlizzard09-04-06, 11:05 PM | What do you lose for it? and the mini unlock causes it to activate at 6 instead of 5, so it's not a mini unlock in itself I hadn't noticed they had it as a normal ability. One hit point earlier, how...useful ;) You are supposed to lose the rage ability to gain it. |

You should know better than to follow a shrink's orders. :schemes: Hey I was already working on the beginning of the list when you suggested it ;-) I know how much eaiser that's going to make it for you folks, Hehehe. I do appreciate the list though. And don't worry about our RPGA web-slave. He's a fellow rugger like myself--he can handle any abuse we can throw at him. After all is said and done, I'll buy him a beer or two and things will be right as rain. :D Heh well one Equipment error was pointed and I didn't look for those at all, someone else will have to do that (and I'll edit them in) I hadn't noticed they had it as a normal ability. One hit point earlier, how...useful You are supposed to lose the rage ability to gain it. I'll put the note on losing rage in the main body then and call it a night... as far as this is concerned at least |
| Mherduwynn09-05-06, 01:26 AM | August: Does work behind the scenes that gets credited to others, even by his fellow Factionmasters. :) As for the shirtless calendar, that's on track for the end of the year. Shawn, you're Mister November, so find something Harvest-oriented to wear and work it in front of your web-cam. :D -August |
| smerwin2909-05-06, 09:04 AM | Considering how I cannot take a compliment very well, we should probably get another praise guy. I volunteer for the blame guy position. And as far as the shirtless calendar, I will have to check my other exotic entertainment contracts to make sure I have no non-compete clauses. I'd hate to get a call from the lawyers at HOT GAMERS.com |
| bertman409-05-06, 02:12 PM | All the EL+ races (with the exception of the gnoll) are missing XP. They should all start off with 1000XP. Bertman |
| dreamwolf09-05-06, 04:07 PM | All the EL+ races (with the exception of the gnoll) are missing XP. They should all start off with 1000XP. Bertman I don't think so. As I understand it, they start at 0, and they have to get up to 3000 before they get to level 2. In other words, you pay a penalty for taking a EL+1, rather than getting an instant jump to level 2. You get cool bonuses to ability scores and other minor bonuses, but you get to spend more time at first level. |
| jeffpicard09-05-06, 05:09 PM | it's irrelevant how much xp may or may not be listed on the sheet, since we never know our characters' XP total in this campaign, just what level we are |
| bertman409-06-06, 11:53 AM | it's irrelevant how much xp may or may not be listed on the sheet, since we never know our characters' XP total in this campaign, just what level we are True, but it will matter when you (playing an EL+) and your buddy (playing a standard race) play in all the same games. Your buddy will level to 2. Then what? If I'm right, then you will level to 3 before your buddy levels to 3. If dreamwolf is right, then you will both level to 3 at the same time. The XP thing is a black box to us, but it would be nice to know that they are consistent with the rules that applies to them. This is mostly from the Forgotten Relams Campaign Setting which has a handy chart in it for EL+ races. The gist of the chart is that although you only have ONE level of character class, you are an EFFECTIVE CHARACTER LEVEL equal to your character class PLUS your EL adjustment. You earn XP based on your ECL. How much XP you need to gain another level also depends on your ECL. Example Race Human Tiefling Githyanki Adjustment EL+0 ECL EL+1 ECL EL+2 ECL Class Level 1 0 1 1000 2 3000 3 Class Level 2 1000 2 3000 3 6000 4 Class Level 3 3000 3 6000 4 10000 5 Class Level 4 6000 4 10000 5 15000 6 Class Level 5 10000 5 15000 6 21000 7 Bertman |

| Moribund09-06-06, 08:07 PM | Human Fighter's attack bonus doesn't include -2 penalty for having a readied tower shield. His Dex modifier to AC is listed as +2 instead of +1, but total is correct. |
| arscott09-07-06, 07:46 PM | Bertman, the ECL rules are slightly different for the XE campaign. Normally, in order to play a 1st level character with +1 LA, you begin the game with all the wealth and experience of a 2nd level character. It's assumed that the other, non-LA characters will actually be playing 2nd level characters. However, XE begins with 1st level characters. The special rules allow you to play a +1 LA character from the beginning, but you still only start with the wealth and experience of a starting 1st level character. Then he'll play enough adventures to earn the XP and Wealth of a 2nd level starting character. At that point, he'll be where the +1 LA characters would normally start, and the regular rules apply from then on. |
| jeffpicard09-08-06, 01:21 AM | Human Fighter's attack bonus doesn't include -2 penalty for having a readied tower shield. His Dex modifier to AC is listed as +2 instead of +1, but total is correct. Gee it was getting late when I got to him ;-) Added to main body, Thanks :-) |
| kiddoc09-13-06, 10:39 PM | Last chance to pick apart our fastplays. I'm sending out corrections along with Generic Wizard & Cleric tomorrow evening. Get all your last minute nit-picking in now! :D Else after that, I'm likely to say: "You had your shot--now deal!!" :P Thanks for all the help again, I sincerely appreciate the effort. |
| WolfStar7609-21-06, 11:29 AM | So, for those of us that have trouble keeping track, are the revised fastplays up now? Or are the ones on the site still the erroneous ones? I've got my first retail session this weekend, and I'd like to know what I'm taking with me. :) |
| kiddoc09-21-06, 12:12 PM | So, for those of us that have trouble keeping track, are the revised fastplays up now? Or are the ones on the site still the erroneous ones? I've got my first retail session this weekend, and I'd like to know what I'm taking with me. :) The revised ones aren't up yet. The fastplays posted are VERY usable and contain only a small number of typo-omissions, or hair-splitting errors. Give them a quick once-over for two minutes before you head out the door and that should clear anything up. Good luck at your game this weekend! |
| WolfStar7609-21-06, 04:14 PM | Thankya. :) |
