Is anyone still working on getting the Gen Con Well of Woe data reported under the players' past activity, or is that not going to happen? I don't mean to sound like I'm griping... just want to know if I should stop looking for it.

No-one has said officially, but I would be very surprised if Well of Woe - or any Expedition Adventure - ever appears on a particular character's tracker. It looks to me as if the four factions were set up as separate campaigns and that there isn't a way to report the Expedition adventures to the various factions which might be involved.

If you're missing player/GM reward points, on the other hand, that's something which you might yet be able to look for. I played Well of Woe at the UK Extended Premiere and we have our reward points, but not credit on the character tracker.

But I'm no-one official, so you might like to keep asking!

I haven't seen any updates to my activity from GenCon. I played in the Well of Woe, the first Crimson Codex adventure, and Mark of Heroes EMH14. I have no XP, GP, or reward points for those five games.

I played in these games with two other people, and neither of them have received _any_ activity from these games either.

Any local games seem to be fine; I've reported games, and gotten XP/GP from games run locally.

The Factionmasters have been *very* good about responding and appologizing for the problems with the database, and have made sure that us players get the XP and GP for the first adventures. They are also trying to work out story objects as well from what I've read (I think.). They are very aware that there is a problem, and have done a great job trying to fix what they can. Kudos!!

As far as reward points, I'm not sure what's going to happen about those. The factionmasters have no power over that (I asked), and it seems to be a pretty low priority. It's a free perk, after all.

Right now, it sounds like the best thing to do is be patient. More patient. I know it's hard, but you are not alone.

Except that free perk has in-game consequences as far as which campaign cards (if any) you get. If the rewards for the D&D Rewards did not have any in-game effect, I wouldn't worry about them too much. However, having to pay for campaign cards on ebay or another method when you've actually played enough to earn them is silly. I know the factionmasters have no control over this, but RPGA in general needs to fix it.

Oh, I completely agree! I'm not too happy about it myself, but I'm not going to quit the campaign because of it either. I wish things had worked out, and we all had our reward points. I hope the RPGA team can fix things, but I'm not sure how it'll happen.

I'm a little dissappointed about spending so much time at the GenCon Xen'drik Delve to get the promo cards, when I could have been playing in games that were more fun! (Everyone I talked to that played the delve said that it wasn't fun, but they were just playing it to get the cards.) Now, none of my Xen'drik games will give me reward points to get reward cards?!? That's not good. I just hope it doesn't drive too many of the players away.

Well, reward points are still being tracked, as I just got my DM rewards today. By my reckening on the amount of minis I got, I have credit for 180 points. Which seems about right. Still have not seen any cards, though, but those get mailed seperately.

Huh... You are the 2nd GM from GenCon who has told me that they have their activity from GenCon, but the three players that I played with haven't gotten _any_ activity from GenCon. I'm just not sure that player reward points are being tracked.

Did your GM activity show up on the RPGA website? If not, then we can assume that somehow reward points are being kept seperately. If so, then your activity was recorded normally.

One possiblity is that the RGPA somehow made sure GMs got credit, but couldn't get all player activity into the database yet. I've heard several people say that they've gotten LG or MoH activity, but no XE. We'll have to see what happens.

Later.

Yep, it's on the website. But, I only ran at GenCon, I didn't play anything, even thought it was all Xen'drik. Hopefully this gets cleared up for everyone soon.

The D&D open and MoH that I dm'd has been reported. The Well of Woe, and Greyhawk Special that I played has not been reported. At least I have an AR from the greyhawk special.

My Well of Woe from GenCon hasn't been reported either.

On the other hand, I enjoyed the Dungeon Delve and I enjoyed getting the rewards cards. I won't be quitting the Xen'drik campaign over rewards cards, but I am disappointed that I may not get as many reward cards as I'm "owed" (I use the term loosely).

I'm in the same boat as you Harliquinn.

Played Well of Woe, and the two BWC adventures at Gen Con and had a blast doing it, and still only have my points from the BWC stuff. I really don't know where the Delve hate is coming from, as from where I was sitting everyone seemed to be having a blast. I was in it for 20 or so delves I think, and each one of them was a race to get to the tough challenge and I think out of all the attempts I particpated in we succeeded in running the table on maybe four or five of them, and only dying twice. :D

It still had me coming back for more.

I wouldn't call one person saying something negative "Delve hate." People were obviously playing it to get the reward cards--no one would deny that. However, the overwhelming majority of the people who I talked to seemed to enjoy it. I also tapped a couple of judges afterward to get their honest evaluation of things. There were certainly some issues they brought up, but most of the feedback they got from the players was positive. You can expect to see the Delve run again.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that I "hated" the delve, and I didn't mean to hijack this thread. I just didn't enjoy playing the delve. I wish I'd used the time I spent playing the delve multiple times playing a new and (to me) more interesting game. It was just a "lesson learned" for me at GenCon this year, and I'll do it differently next year.

I spoke to a lot of people about it from my local group (and from other areas that I've met at GenCons past). None of them said that they enjoyed the game, but they all said that they enjoyed getting the cards. It stood out to me when they said it. I'm certain it was fun to get the cards, but was the _game_ used to get the cards fun? I care about the hobby and the RPGA, so maybe I'm just worrying too much.

I _have_ spoken to new RPGA players who were turned off by the delve. They much prefered last year where the DM was given a some of the regular reward cards to hand out at a regular table. Plus, the special cards were available at the RPGA desk. It made accessiblity easier. I think I've posted in the forums before about having to explain to players who can't make it to a con because of family or work about the "exclusiveness" of these cards that effect game play a great deal. I've seen some players that were pretty bitter about it.

My take on it was that I'd rather spend my time playing some new adventure or game than wait in line to play the same combats over and over. I enjoy more from games than just the combat, but in the delve, pretty much all that mattered was the combat and survival.

I belive in supporting the RPGA, and I was told by a GenCon GM that they'd made a lot of money off the Delve. If the RPGA was looking for some income through the delve, I don't mind playing in such a game. I'd just prefer it was more fun. I enjoyed getting the cards, now I'd like to see a game that was fun to play. I appreciate the RPGA and what they do on a small budget, but my complaint was about the cost of my valuable GenCon gaming time. In the future, if the delve doesn't get closer to my tastes, I'll probably just buy the cards on ebay, and spend my precious GenCon time playing a game I would enjoy more.

I think GenCon is about all different types of games, and this was one I just didn't like much. It felt more like a miniatures game to me, and if I'd wanted to play one of those, I'd have signed up for it. I do hope the RPGA hears from gamers like me and makes the delve more balanced for all of their players (more roleplay, more skills, more varied encounters, something...)

I hope that answered the questions brought up, and I didn't (and don't) mean to offend anyone. If you'd like to discuss this more, I'm ok with it, but I'd prefer if we took it to another thread so we don't hijack this thread any more than we already have.

Thanks.

I was sad when the Delve wasn't ran at Dragon*con, even though it was an extended premiere site. :(

I thought it sounded like a cool, quick game with some neat rewards!

I judged two sets of WoW (six slots) and one delve at GenCon. None of my stuff has appeared online. The most frustrating thing about it is the lack of communication on the status of the database.

The most frustrating thing about it is the lack of communication on the status of the database.Given the sudden loss of 75% of the RPGA staff right around GenCon, including those responsible for the database, I'm not sure who you're complaining to. Yes, I wish Hasbro had treated that office better. But I know that there are fresh hires in the pipeline, and that everyone remaining -- including our faction masters -- shares your frustration.

At least give the new hires some time after they're hired to get up to speed before complaining about the job they're doing.

I won't start a new thread but Jesus-Tap-Dancing-Christ! This adventure premiered two months ago. Just tell us it won't appear on our character trackers already, find a way to award us the 12 reward points we are owed for playing it (and I paid $15 to play in that slot, so yes, I deserve it), and move on. I hate to sound like a griper but two months is way too long to fix a database issue like this.

I hear ya, but with Chris Tulach as the content manager I don't expect to ever hear anything, he is notorious here in highfolk land for never returning e-mails. I also paid $15 to play and finished in 6 hours. $2.50/hr.

Ian, who else?

I never directed this at the faction masters (on the contrary in previous posts I have praised the FMs on how they have handle this) and this has nothing to do with Chris Tulach (the only new hire that I know of).

This has to do with the lack of communication coming from Ian. Some time after Gen Con Ian did give an update on these forums on the status but that was months ago. I understand that he is busy without a SRM/Chris person, but it is *not* to much to ask for 60 seconds to type something up on these forums to let everyone know that the problem has not been forgotten even if it is just to say that the problem will never get fixed.

It is not like the problem started yesterday. Gen Con was months ago. All I'm asking for is a status update. I think that I have been very patient with all of this as, I believe, this is my first complaint on these forums about this situation. It is not like I was cussing, ranting and raving about it. All I typed was that I was frustrated about the lack of communication [from Ian].

You seem to have read a lot of stuff into my post that wasn't there.

psgj

P.S. By they way over the weekend, the LG Interactives that I played at Origins were posted and today the WoW that I judged at GenCon Friday and Saturday have been posted. Now all I am waiting for is the Delve that I judged on Sunday at GenCon. Thanks to everyone at Wizards for getting this into the system.

I feel your pain about Ian. I asked him to respond to the thread about Dragon*con, and he never has. Brooks Banks, senior GM of Dragon*con, told me in an email that Ian is not communicating at all to get the Dragon*con RPGA games fully reported.

It really makes me wonder if Ian Richards even reads these boards. If you do Ian, and there's some legitimate reason for the complete lack of communication between yourself and the online community, I apologize. It would be nice to hear from you on Gencon, and Dragon*con, however.

Ian: Here's the original Dragon*con thread, where I posted some of the direct information I received from Brooks Banks about Dragon*con.

Progress! My first two Well of Woe sessions are now showing up in the character tracker! Which, of course, leads to the next issue... one of the two sessions has been applied to the wrong character. During Gen Con I only had a Crimson Codex character. Since then I have registered and played a Covenant of Light character as well, and one of my Gen Con sessions was placed on that PC's character tracker. Will something like that be correctable?

Holy Crap! Well of Woe has just been reported for me. And somewhat accurately I might add! However, I too have the problem of having my (non-existant) Crimson Codex character apparently having one round of this reported. I hope this can be fixed.

No such luck for me, unfortunately. Perhaps this is just GenCon players? As far as I know there's now no contact between HQ and the Senior GM of XCaliber 2 where the adventure ran in the UK. (and I've checked all four characters!)

I'm resigned to the tracker not working, to be honest, and relying on the AJs instead. In my opinion the tracker adds an unneccessary level of complexity for practically no gain: story objects' text doesn't print correctly or points to documents which don't exist (my MoH character has access to a Rod of Recall but the document which tells me the details doesn't exist), story object codes fail to work (similarly, my MoH character should have access to /Leadership/ due to a Story Object in a DM's Mark, but the code didn't work), and data entry at various points can lead to unjust results. It's no problem to me to move to an entirely paper-based system!

I also am getting close, the first two rounds are reported to the correct character, but don't have the story objects listed. ( I know my gm wrote them on the tracking form) The third round is reported under a faction I still haven't played.( but has the story object).

almost there,....almost there

stay on target.
