I'm still a little fuzzy on one point, though. It says if you didn't stay ahead of the bump you must re-pay the XP cost. What if a character payed their XP prior to the bump and WOULD HAVE stayed ahead of the level bump. Since we don't know XP totals, a character who is anywhere between the baseline for the level bump and one XP away from the next level up looks the same on the character tracker (you can't tell unless they're a full level ahead). It seems like it's very possible to double-pay due to lack of knowledge on the player's part. I don't know if there's a better way to handle this or not, but it seems worth bringing up. 3) (Not really a level bump question at all, but while I'm at it) Are we getting new character sheets any time soon? Explaining to new players that their character sheet says Mark of Heroes on it even though the campaign is effectively over is a bit odd. Explaining why they need to pen in their expansion list NEXT to the blacked-out 1st level slot is odder, |

That being said, yes, its simply a Mark of Heroes sheet with the XE logo on it, but that's all we're really wanting right? I bet it's just a matter of having someone put it up for download on the website. |

I'll add that to the list of things for the next Dispel Confusion. 2) The rule assumes you keep track of your PC. Basically here's the way it works. If the level bump hits and you are below it, the bump brings you up to the minimum (meaning all the xp spent disappears and you have to spend it again). If you made the level before the bump (here I assume you watch the tracker once and awhile to make sure mods are reported) you ahead and your xp was spent and is still recorded as spent. If a DM questions you, you should be able to hold up your adventure journal as proof. 3) I agree. Sadly the FMs are graphically challenged and are waiting on support from HQ to get these. We'll bring it up at DDXP when we meet with them. |
| grahamdrew02-08-07, 03:53 PM | Wow, the whole concept of actually getting answers from people in charge is still kind foreign to me after playing Mark of Heroes :) I guess the really question for #1 is how we're supposed to note it on our Adventure Journals. Normally when you gain a level you record your feat choices, skill ranks, etc. Are we just writing level bumped to 4th and omitting all that, do we write it in as three separate adventures so we have the slots on the journal, etc. #2 makes a lot of sense; I forgot you can check the database BEFORE the bump to see if you made it. The last one isn't really a big issue, it's mainly just a convenience and legacy-shedding thing. We probably don't have to worry about the progression sheet at all if the 1st level expansion item was included on the adventure journal, anyway. Thanks! |
| Skerrit02-08-07, 04:57 PM | As for how you record it; just record as one entry with what your new values are for what you were bumped too. No need to level up each level seperately. |
