Hello All!

I apologize for such a basic question... :)

If a level 1 character has a Mark of Heroes creation card and another Xen'drik single slot card, does that mean he has 2 action points for the gaming session (reflecting the number of cards in the stack), or 3 action points for the session?

The rules in the Campaign Standards were unclear to our group regarding this. It seemed like it was trying to make a distinction between the action point total, and the RPGA card stack size, and mentioned using "regular" action points to make up the difference if you didn't start the game with enough cards to meet the regular starting action point total for your character level.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Neither. He has 1 action point; which is the Xen'drik card in his slot.
The Mark of Heroes Creation Card takes up 3 slots, and therefore 3 Action points are consumed by the creation card. He can spend the Xen'drik card for anything an action point can do, or to do what the card says. If using the action point to add to a d20 roll, he can choose to roll the d6, or take the action value of the Xen'drik card.

At the start of each session, you should show the DM any creation or expansion cards in your stack and then turn them face down, or place them in a discard pile, or some other thing to indicate that they are spent - just as you would with a general card you use as an action point during play.

So while you would have two physical cards taking up all four available 'slots' for a first level character, once play has begun you'd only have one campaign card left and, therefore, only one action point.

Hope that helps!
