I am referring to such things as: - healer's kit (50) - ink (8) - spell component pouch (5) - trail rations (0.5) - paper (0.4) - flasks of oil (0.1) - animal feed (0.05) - torches (0.01) - chalk (0.01) - candle (0.01) Most of these won't break the bank at quintuple cost, but the more expensive items may cause difficulties for 1st level characters. |

The only two things i could see issues with are the healing kit (specifically stated to work 10 times) and the flasks of oil (since you can use them to make jury-rigged alchemist's fire). Since the healing kit is an item with charges, you could just spend the 50 gold and get a healing kit with two uses, and a lenient judge will probably give you the other 8. And for the oil, even the "expensive" price of one gold for two flasks is a bargain, compared to what alchemists fire sells for. Specifically, I would NOT say that the spell component pouch is a consumable item, because the PHB makes no mention of needing to renew it on a regular basis. LG has rules covering that in the upkeep cost, but this is a different campaign. Also, the amount of ink likely to be used in an adventure is small compared to how much ink comes in a bottle. At least, thats the way i see things. |
