| Butterface10-23-06, 05:39 PM | Just curious - any idea when Faction Mod/DM's Marks 3 and 4 are coming out? I know the first adventures are scheduled for retirement 12-31. Also, any idea when we can expect the next Expedition Adventure? I know there are a lot of database/campaign standards things that have to be dealt with, but I'm definitely eager to see how some of these plotlines are going that you Factionmasters have started out. Thanks! |

| Randall Montgomery10-24-06, 10:47 AM | I'm fairly sure mods 3 and 4 are done. There's a convention in Milwaukee this weekend where Skerrit, the CoS factionmaster, will be holding a CoS interactive (which is being considered a DM's Mark). As well, CoS 3 and 4 are listed as being available to play over the weekend. Won't know till I get there if they're actually there or not, but all indications are that they're ready to go. Not sure if this is the same for the other factions, though. |

It's pretty easy to get up to Milwaukee, and I'm apparently running the CoS mods down here in Chicago, so I'd really like to get them under my belt if possible. |
| indel200110-24-06, 08:08 PM | I know that the 3rd Crimson Codex adventure was submitted to RPGA recently and, I presume, the 3rd DM's Mark. Hopefully you'll see it available soon. |
| Skerrit10-24-06, 09:03 PM | What's the convention, and why isn't it listed on the RPGA calendar? It's pretty easy to get up to Milwaukee, and I'm apparently running the CoS mods down here in Chicago, so I'd really like to get them under my belt if possible. I assume parts of it are on the calendar (due to our size, I believe we order by the day). Here is the announce I posted earlier along with some new details. The following updates have been made to the schedule for DCV VII. These events have been added Dan's Con of the Vale, and a complete listing of other events follows. In addition to these added events, we are in desperate need of more judges! The demand has far outstripped our ability to meet it. Please consider volunteering to run a round or two. In addition to reduced convention rates, and judge rooms, we also have extensive judge perks including food, beverages and rewards of product. Please help others enjoy this hobby! We're adding even more things for you to do at this year's DCV – two new Living Arcanis adventures from the new Enpebyn Invisible Kings program on Friday morning and afternoon, an additional D&D Minis Tournament Saturday evening, and a Dreamblade Tournament Saturday morning. Descriptions of these additions to the existing schedule are as follows: – Luck of the Draw (LA-IK-ENP01-01) by Derrel Weaver: It was supposed to be a simple job. Guard the supply caravan on its way to Enpebyn and make some money. Then the bad weather set in and the supplies ran short. What could possibly go wrong next? This scenario is designed to give new players a first glimpse into Arcanis: The World of Shattered Empires, and into the Invisible Kings Realm of Enpebyn. This is a LIVING ARCANIS INTRODUCTORY adventure, designed for 1st to 5th level characters (APLs 1, 2, 3, and 5). – Upon a Troubled Brow (LA-IK-ENP01-02) by Derrel Weaver: The prophet Deolpholis once said, "Evil and good, like black and white, but how does one know which white is right?" When such choices lay before you, the consequences invariably weigh heavily upon a troubled brow. Heroes are needed to help solve a series of ghastly murders at the Temple of Solemn Passage just outside Enpebyn where the grisly trail of bodies might lead to friends and enemies both old and new. This scenario is a continuation of the "Forges of Mystery" series. As such, it is highly recommended that players select characters that have previously participated in LA-SP4-06 Blood of Innocence and LA-SP4-07 Under a Blood-Red Sky. Undead and known Coryani Loyalist PCs will likely find this scenario extremely frustrating and/or arbitrarily deadly unless they have influential friends in high places or a hidden stash of gold to grease the right palms. This is a LIVING ARCANIS STANDARD adventure, designed for 5th to 18th level characters (APL 5 through 17 and a "Glory Tier"). WARNING! Some of the combats in this scenario can be extremely difficult if approached in the wrong way. For any party with questionable combat ability, it is highly suggested that you play down if possible. – Blood War Prerelease Tourney, Sat eve: The Blood War is here! Play in this sealed D&D Miniatures prerelease tournament. You receive 2 boosters of Blood War with which you'll construct a 200-point warband to smash your opponents on the way to victory! Get your Blood War minis before you can buy them in stores - top places also win more Blood War boosters. $30 separate entry fee per player. If you're only playing this event at the convention, there is no other fee. Registration opens at 6:30 pm on Saturday, and the tournament starts at 7pm on Saturday. Run by Jeff Thompson Founder Virtual Magic and BFG Paintball Complex, Germantown, WI. More details for these miniatures events can be found here: http://www.virtualmagic.net. This event also runs again on Sunday! (That’s two prerelease DDM tournies!) – Dreamblade - Baxar's War Release EDGE Event: Sealed/Limited Format. Entry includes 3 Boosters + Edge Prizes + More. $35 separate entry fee per player. If you're only playing this event at the convention, there is no other fee. Registration opens at 8:30 am on Saturday, and the tournament starts at 9:30 am on Saturday. 3 Rounds of Swiss and then a Cut to Top 8 for Single Elimination. More details for these miniatures events can be found here: http://www.virtualmagic.net. – Enjoy these exciting additions - pre-registration closes Sunday, so visit the website at http://wiscons.roseocon.net/ and sign up today! Original Convention Announcement: Dan’s Con of the Vale VII is coming to the Tommy Thompson Youth Center in West Allis Wisconsin on October 27th to the 30th; brought to you by Cold Iron Conventions (CIC) and Virtual Magic Gaming Store. The last weekend of October is going to be packed full of exciting Halloween Highfolk action. We will have the following... (although space is filling up, pre-register today!) Three Premier HIGHFOLK regional events: – The Root of the Problem (HIG6-07) by Richard W. Brown: The dark holds secrets, unknown dangers, and a clue to great treasure. Will you risk all to face Highfolk’s most unsavory lot? A Highfolk regional adventure for APLs 2 to 8. – Dusk (HIG6-08) by Greg Marks: Visions of the Tree of the Arclight lead a band of young heroes to escort Maegla the dreamer on a quest to recover the missing relic from the northern Vesve. A Highfolk regional adventure for APLs 2 to 8; Part Two of The Coming Dawn. – Racial Enemies (HIG6-09) by Paul Dohearty: The Hammerstrike Clan and the Dwarves of Dargas Mor have need of the assistance of adventurers to guide some newly bearded Dwarves and help wipe out a Giant threat. Recommended for Dwarves of Dargas Mor and Hammerstrike Clan Dwarves. For characters levels 1-8. Three Wisconsin First Run Iuz meta-regional events: – The Madhouse (IUZ6-05) by Britt Frey: The Old One is looking into something and the Shade would like to know what. Why has an abandoned house near Admundfort attracted Iuz’s attention? This adventure is extremely roleplay intensive. A one-round Iuz’s Border States Metaregional adventure set in the Shield Lands for APLs 4-12. – Drach Treielabone (Dragon Bloodline) (IUZ6-06) by Patrick Williamson and Andrew Cowan: Celebrations in the Dwur mountain kingdom of Khundholm are a pleasant respite from the normal grind of adventuring life. Barandon, the Haigh Righ of the Khund (pron. “Koond”), makes only one request of his guests – that they enjoy a well laid table, comfortable quarters and the good fellowship of the Khund folk. But when a problem crops up that the Khund cannot undertake, are you willing to lend a hand to help them secure your nation’s good relations? A one-round Iuz’s Border States Metaregional adventure set in Perrenland for APLs 4-14. – Stone Cold (IUZ6-07) by Gary Affeldt: A white dragon and his magical beast followers are attacking a tribe of goliaths. Why are they doing this and what do they want from semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers? A one-round Meta-regional adventure set in the Clatspur Mountains for characters level 3-15 (APLs 6-14). An Original HIGHFOLK Interactive and other unique Highfolk events: – The Velverdyva Gambit (HIG6-i04) by The Triad: An army of human mercenaries, orcs, goblinoids and other creatures marches on the town of Verbeeg Hill. The adventurers are called upon to defend it. A one-round Access Highfolk Regional Interactive adventure set in and around Verbeeg Hill for characters level 1-15 (APLs 2-14). – The Highfolk Hero’s Challenge II - Double Entendre (HIG6-S01) by Tamela Bangs: Being a hero doesn’t always mean killing the creature and saving the girl. Sometimes it’s about doing the right thing, finding the right thing, saying the right thing or teaching others to do the right thing. Of course killing the creature doesn’t hurt either. Test your mettle to see what kind of Hero you really are. A one-round special adventure set in Highfolk for characters level 1-8 (APLs 2-6). – There will be a spectacular prize for best costume. Feel free to come as your PC or your favorite Halloween costume on Saturday! – We will have prizes for Best Judge and Best Player! – Highfolk Introductory Modules: We will have eight intro modules other available for play in every slot based on demand. Start a new PC and play some intro modules! – Elections: Every Autumn sees Highfolk elections for the two adventurer’s seats on the Town Council. Run against long time incumbent the lady of House Rellen, Mnemosyne Menanine-Rellen (Morgan Spiering) or noted halfling horticulturalist Ashlain Leafburn (Tamela Bangs), for this coveted position! Living Greyhawk replay events: – First Comes the Running (HIG6-06) by Gary "The Reaper" Affeldt: “First comes the running, then comes the screaming and then comes the blood.” - quote from Alric the Red describing an adventure gone horribly wrong Over the past year goblinoid and orc raiders have raided the High Vale. Now human raiders have struck, taking a herd of cattle. Your pursuit leads you into the mountains where you make an important discovery. Aimed at martial player characters, but inquisitive, knowledgeable and talkative player characters are helpful. Opportunities exist to spend additional time units (TU). This is Part 1 of the “Don’t Run with Sickles” series. A one-round Regional adventure set in Highfolk for characters level 1-11 (APLs 2-8). – Elegy for a Broken King (COR6-06) by Luke Pitcher: The trail of a missing son leads you to Dustbridge, in the lands of the former Great Kingdom. A cold wind blows through Prince Strychanis town; something very new, and surpassingly old, is in the offing. An adventure for characters of Average Party Level 10 through 16. – From the Dust (COR6-07) by Derek Schubert and Donovan Hicks: The dust has settled and a new Duke has placed his claim on Tenh. His lands are devastated. His shattered people-rebels-turned-supporters, old guard, or zealous faithful-squabble in their divided loyalties. With such infighting, where will Duke Labahlah begin rebuilding his nation? An adventure for characters of Average Party Levels 6 through 14. (Part One of the Legacy of Life series) – Catching Breath (COR6-08) by Shawn Merwin: A friend in need calls upon a group of heroes to help him deal with problems in a far-off land. These troubles, however, may be ones that even the bravest and experienced of adventurers are not equipped to handle. A roleplaying-intensive adventure for characters of Average Party Levels 2 through 16. (Part Three of the Windows to the Serpent's Soul series — COR4-01 Shedding Scales, COR5-08 Clipping Wings, and COR6-08 Catching Breath.) – All year five Highfolk Regional and Iuz Meta-regional will be available for play. Find a table and we’ll make it happen. PLENTY of other great games, including: – LA-HP4-01 The Word of Illiir by Henry Lopez: A long-missing ally reappears in the unlikeliest of places, bearing information that will send a group of adventurers to the very edges of the Known Lands and beyond on a quest to wrest an ancient relic from the clutches of a mysterious group known only as The Banished. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that LA-HP4-01 be played before LA-HP4-02 and LA-HP4-03. Characters that successfully complete this adventure may not play any other adventure until they have played LA-HP4-02. This is a Living Arcanis Standard adventure, designed for 6th to 16th level characters (APLs 7 through 15). – LA-HP4-02 The Banished by Henry Lopez: A long-missing ally reappears in the unlikeliest of places, bearing information that will send a group of adventurers to the very edges of the Known Lands and beyond on a quest to wrest an ancient relic from the clutches of a mysterious group known only as The Banished. This adventure continues the story that began in LA-HP4-01. NOTE: It is strongly recommended that LA-HP4-02 be played after LA-HP4-01 and before LA-HP4-03. Characters that have played LA-HP4-01 need to play this adventure before playing any other adventure. This is a Living Arcanis Standard adventure, designed for 6th to 16th level characters (APLs 7 through 15). – LA-HP4-03 For I See Naught but Ruin and Woe by Henry Lopez: With the Coryani Civil War ripping the Empire apart, the true victims are the poorer towns and villages who have always counted on the protection of mighty Legions that are no longer there. Faced with an implacable evil, must they now submit to a new master? NOTE: It is strongly recommended that LA-HP4-03 be played after both LA-HP4-01 and LA-HP4-02. It is not critical that you play this adventure immediately after HP4-02 (you can play other adventures first if necessary) but the story will make the most sense if these three Hard Points are played in order with no other adventures between them. This is a Living Arcanis Standard adventure, designed for 6th to 16th level characters (APLs 7 through 15). – LA-SP4-19 Where the Ghost of Legend Lies by Jack Cooper: Censure is rife with ancient myths and tales of great deeds, through which mortals transcend into legend. Though these heroes fade and are delivered unto the rot of Neroth's bosom, the saga of their famous exploits remains an eternal legacy. But some legends are best left to die in silence, lest their legacy turn into a tale of living sorrow. This is a Standard Living Arcanis adventure, designed for 1st to 10th level characters (APL 2 through 9). – LAN-HP3-01 The Gift by Michael T. Hebert: "His worship would never die till the stars came right again, and the secret priests would take Him from his tomb. And then His servants will rise, and resume the spread of His rule over the face of Arcanis. The time would be easy to know, for then mankind would have become as in Times of Old; free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing, drinking the blood of his covenant, and reveling in joy." - From the Catechism of Neroth, 6th Century Imperial Calendar. This LIVING ARCANIS: NISHANPUR STANDARD adventure is designed for 1st to 16th- level characters (APL 2 through 15). – Blackmoor Episode #36 – An Important Discovery by Kenneth Austin: An important relic has been discovered by one of the University of Blackmoor’s premier archaeologists. The Fetch needs a team to escort it safely back to Blackmoor for further study. A Dave Arneson’s Blackmoor Episode for character levels 1 to 7. – Blackmoor Episode #37 – Contagion by David Brainard: Hard times can call for harsh measures, even from those who would be heroes. When a lurking evil is revealed, can mercy survive? A Dave Arneson’s Blackmoor adventure for heroes level 2-10. – Xen’drik Expeditions – COS3 Khyber’s Children by Greg Marks: Alliances have been made and with them comes more information on the Caldyn Fragments. You must journey beneath the sea in search of the latest piece of the prophecy. A Cabal of Shadows faction adventure optimized for 3rd-level Xen’drik Expeditions characters (levels 2-5). – Xen’drik Expeditions – COS4 Fire in the Heart of Madness by Greg Marks: A local Stormreach resident has drawn the attention of the Cabal of Shadows. Is he a competitor for control of the prophecy? A member of a rival faction? A kindred spirit? You have been tasked to investigate and turn him to the Cabal’s cause or eliminate the threat. A Cabal of Shadows faction adventure optimized for 4th-level Xen’drik Expeditions characters (levels 3-6). – Xen’drik Expeditions – Cabal of Shadows Interactive By the Warmth of the Fire by Greg Marks: The Cabal of Shadows have begun to move into their new hidden base of operations, but before everyone can claim their bunk, the Council of the Obscured demands a loyalty test. Come play the first ever Cabal of Shadows interactive event written and run by the Factionmaster! This is your chance to directly shape the Cabal! | catsclaw10-25-06, 01:43 AM | I assume parts of it are on the calendar (due to our size, I believe we order by the day). When I go to the RPGA calendar and list all the October events in Wisconsin, there's only three events listed. None of them over the upcoming weekend. |
| Frobi-Wan Kenobi10-25-06, 01:45 AM | I know that the 3rd Crimson Codex adventure was submitted to RPGA recently and, I presume, the 3rd DM's Mark. Hopefully you'll see it available soon. Aren't the second set of DM's Marks still MIA? |
| DBlizzard10-25-06, 05:45 AM | Aren't the second set of DM's Marks still MIA? Still, that's not a major concern, just a minor one. Since they are "design your own adventure" the biggest concern is lack of any story objects to use. To me, they are good bonuses, but I don't mind missing them too much. |
