| maijstral206-29-06, 01:07 AM | I've signed up for the Xen'drik expedition adventures and i'm ready to create and register my character.....but i'm not sure what i'm doing. I tried to register my character on the xen'drik part of the site but its seems kind of sketchy so i thought it might not be ready yet or its 1st level. I have a default MoH character,7th now, from Gencon '05 I thought i'd experiment on, creation wise, but all i seem to be able to do is pick a name, race and class. is this all there is to registering your character, if not how do you add stats and feats and expansion slots as well as equipment? THe site tells you to print out your character and its valid for 7 days after the date of the printing, but all that happens when i print it is the name, equip value, level, race, cards and class as well as convention codes. Am I missing something |

This is a new campaign, so you will unfortunately have to start as a 1st level character, at least until the "level kick"... which probably won't be for a few months. All the website does is register what you've already seen... a name, a race, and a class. Eventually you'll see an equipment value and an xp value that your character gains from playing in adventures. When you're ready to play in a tournament, you print out the document provided on the site for your character which proves that your character exists (as you already discovered) Then you fill out a character sheet and then choose your feats, equipment, and so on. The website doesn't keep track of those. I've signed up for the Xen'drik expedition adventures and i'm ready to create and register my character.....but i'm not sure what i'm doing. | maijstral206-29-06, 09:05 PM | Thanks :) I figured that was how it works, but wanted to be sure. I kept hearing about 'registering' your character so I thought it would have more detail than that. Especially since your supposed to printout the character to bring to the con. I'm used to home games where everyone knows everone elses characters, at a con you just bring a filled out character sheet with the printout. I thought the registering would have more detail to keep someone from just swaping out feats, skills and equipment that proved useless for better ones at the next game. The DM's,and in most cases the players, being different from game to game and from con,or gaming event, to con. |

However, to prove that you've earned gold and XP, you'll need bring the printout. This campaign looks like it will ask you to not change feats, skills, classes, etc. However, between every con you can change what equipment you have. |
| raalynthslair07-11-06, 03:58 PM | Anyone have an errata or know if there's a thread that clears up some of the guidelines for the "XX" campaign? There's a list of "starting gold" that shows the "*" next to Cleric and Druid (amongst others) that has a clarification bullet beneath the list saying these classes are all "restricted" unless we've got the card to play them... yet a page or two earlier it doesn't say squat about the Cleric and Druid being "restricted" when it lists them in the "unlimited" class group you can select to have as your PC class... Is the latter instance a typo? Also - the starting gold seems awful low... 240 is about the highest I saw skimming over it... The basic "Cure Light" potion that's "unlimited" is 250... heck, a Chain Shirt is 100 - almost half of that... And some classes (Druid particularly) get even less (Druids get only 80) making it almost impossible to have anything - much less anything worth recording and such... |
| Lightblade07-11-06, 04:19 PM | The "*" by cleric and druid is most likely a typo. They should not be restricted classes, as indicated by a sidebar. The starting gold is accurate. It's actually the maximum starting gold by class, as given by the PHB or relevant book. Sure, that means that you can't have a potion of Cure Light wounds unless you've taken the healing consumables package at character start. This is consistant with other campaigns in not letting you get magical items at character creation. If you really want more gold to start, the Blackwheel Company will give you 50 bonus gold at 1st level. Keep in mind, however, that at 1st level, you aren't allowed to have any magic (limited) items, unless expressely allowed (ie by the consumables item package). Thus, even your warforged blackwheel fighter (EV 290) cannot purchase that potion. |

Yes.. their small list of items that cost more for they are 'expendale' items.. Cost more yes (unless you take a few feats that they list). BUT the good news is that it takes into account the down time inbetween games that you play. So yes you play alot for that 1 cure light potion (cost you 250 g), but inbetween adventures when you 'restock' your equipment it will cost you nothing to replace it. Therefore you dont have to spend alot of gold on reusable items each game you play.. yes it does cost alot to get it.. but once you have it in the long run it will save you gold. As for basic equipment.. I made my character with just basic's from the book.. no fancy starter packages etc etc.. at the beginning I will want all of my Action points (3) to able to use them in the game. Heck I even had about 50g left over when i was done buying. Cant wait to try the game down In Phoenix for phoenix con at the end of this month. Now that my wife and I live in Vegas.. might get into more RPGA Games. |
