I saw on the campaign standards you can spend an expansion slot to take a noble title. I was thinking of taking this for my Blade of Orien/Dragonmark Heir. Does it have any actual benefit, or is it merely for style? Would it mean I hold a higher position in the house, or have more pure Orien blood?

Note that Noble Title is one of those "first level expansion slot only" things. That said, in the 1.0 version, they mentioned that the title didn't mean much... yet. They strongly implied it might make its way into the story later.

Also, if you're thinking about this for a Blackwheel character, I can imagine it being another tie breaker (http://boards1.wizards.com/showpost.php?p=11329693&postcount=15) in selecting mission leadership.

Probably a noob question, but, what is mission leadership? Havent actually played a mod yet...

One thing to keep in mind is that members of the Dragonmark houses CANNOT be nobles according to the laws of Khorvaire. They have to revoke their membership to the house. I am not sure what impact this has gamewise though...

Khorvaire Schmorvaire. We're in Xen'Drik! :)

(note - this is a humorous post reflecting on the flavor of XE, it is not the author's intent to imply ANY kind of rule interpretation here. Unless I do. But I don't. Probably.)

It is also said that you can take a noble title stating that you're an unmarked member of your house.read the XECS.

Sorry, that was based on the article I linked. Blackwheel has a very military flair-- deciding "who is the leader this mission" can be determined in many ways. The article lists some ideas: rank gained from previous missions, etc. Having a noble title makes sense as another tie-breaker in deciding who should (at least nominally) lead the group.

Yes, but I ran across marked members of the house who used the option to become a noble. It is just campaign setting flavor, and a relatively minor one at that. I merely wanted to point out that members of a dragon marked house are not allowed to be nobles by law, and I do realize that law is probably less strictly adhered to on Xen'drik than on Khorvaire. Of course, being a member of dragon marked house comes down to being a noble for all intents and purposes ;)
