| psgj06-24-06, 09:33 AM | No post. |
| kiddoc06-24-06, 11:02 AM | On there way. We've seen them, they're getting final "approval" from the "powers that be." Some interesting twists and turns in there, but no MASSIVE changes from MoH. Should be out VERY soon. |
| Greyson06-24-06, 02:39 PM | Where are the Campaign Standards? There is a draft version of the EXECS here: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/DnD_Camp_XE_CS0_0.zip Apparently, this draft 0.0 is specifically for creating characters to play at GenCon Indy. Another, more comprehensive version shall be made available in July (yeah, right...). |
| Mherduwynn06-26-06, 01:42 AM | Isn't it just a little bit early to start showing pessimism in the campaign? If HQ says a more comprehensive rule set is coming in July, it is coming in July. There are several great people working to make sure this campaign is the best one yet for all of you; show us a little faith, please. Of course, given my faction, I suppose I would be the one concerned with faith, neh? ;) |
| TMoonshadow06-26-06, 08:22 PM | I am really impressed with this new Xen'drick campaign so far. It just looks so much more organized than the previous campaigns - both of which I have enjoyed. I'm looking forward to playing, and trying out several of the factions - all of them, if I have the time! |
| Jesse Heinig06-29-06, 05:14 AM | Well, folks only have the MoH campaign to use as a benchmark, which doesn't help. XDE may have a different staff, but I suspect that to a lot of the players it's just "RPGA staffers" and there is not an expectation that it will be handled any more promptly. | wiccadshadow07-28-06, 10:18 PM | Well... It's July 28th, and there is still only a draft. That doesn't bode well for me. =) I have events coming up in a week or so and would like to have, atleast, volume 1 to get used to. It's been a while since I have been involved in the RPGA and I need to refresh my understanding of things. The whole Stack List, Locked, Unlocked, Items, Feats, etc., needs to be clarified for me. Anyone have a clue when version 1 will actually be out? |
| The_Jester07-29-06, 12:43 AM | Soon, I hope. It sounds like my group wants to play soon and I have no clue how to roll up a character or what stack slots are from the draft Standards or how magic items work. Only played LG and this is very different... Great way to start things off. With a late document. Especially with something that is very similar to the MoH version so, really, there's no excuse for the delay. |
| JJeff07-29-06, 06:48 AM | Soon, I hope. It sounds like my group wants to play soon and I have no clue how to roll up a character or what stack slots are from the draft Standards or how magic items work. Only played LG and this is very different... Same here. I, the resident GM of my group, has been drafted to run a Cabal group and a BWC group and the questions my players are bombarding me are killing me... I'm not even daring to place my module request order until I see the Campaign Source... |
| Herrbard07-29-06, 08:57 AM | Version 0.0 of the Campaign standards has been out for a while now. It and the Mark of Heroes Campaign standards are enough to get characters created. They are available at these links: Xen'drik Standards - http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebxe/welcome MoH Standards - http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebmoh/welcome While not complete, they were definitely enough to let me get characters created for Origins, and to order the faction mods for a gameday, as well as running them at GenCon. Version 1.0 is in the works, but as has been stated elsewhere on these boards, may not be available until the start of GenCon. |
| Guan07-29-06, 11:26 AM | This is very poor planning. To launch a new campaign and not have version 1.0 of a draft up is quite daft. I know in my LG region we have writing deadlines; Deadlines for our modules, deadlines for our convention ordering, deadlines for circle submission. This is a professional place of business and needs to be addressed as such. If not, I wonder if the campaign will be worth the price for slot of if our time would be much more useful some place else? Come on people, if you say Mid-July, make it Mid-July. I appologize if this sounds a bit harsh, but I only expect from other regions and campaigns what I would expect from myself. -Guan SLT |
| Wavester07-29-06, 11:40 AM | The Campaign Standards 1.0 will be out by Gencon. They are being worked on as we speak. As to why they are not out right now I cannot speak to that right now but there are very good reasons beyond any of our control as to why they are not out that will be clear in the next couple weeks. | wiccadshadow07-29-06, 12:01 PM | My Game day is August 5th, hope they are out a few days before that. =( |
| delroland07-29-06, 08:33 PM | For the record, Gen Con Indy is August 10-13.The version 0 campaign standards are a draft version of the campaign standards for use when creating characters for events at Origins, and it is the official document until we unleash version 1 in mid-July.I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as this is not the first time the RPGA has released something late. I would just appreciate the campaign staff respecting the players enough to be straight with us. Setting deadlines and not meeting them can very easily discourage those interested in this campaign. The more appropriate question, I think, is whether or not the 1.0 document will actually be out in time for Gen Con. Frankly, I doubt it. Most likely, there will only be a v0.5 document that will not be made available online, provided as a hard copy solely for the players at the con. The v1.0 document will probably be released late August to mid September. Of course, these are only educated guesses based on my experience with previous RPGA campaigns, so if any of the XE staff know this to be completely inaccurate, feel free to call me on it. |
| delroland07-29-06, 08:36 PM | Oh, and when can we expect to see new character sheets, progression sheets, and stack sheets available on the website? Currently there are only the MoH versions of these documents. Very little has changed between the two campaigns, so most of these documents will suffice. (The only exception is the expansion item list, as in XE we get one at 1st level, unlike MoH.) However, it would be nice to not have to use recycled .pdf's sooner as opposed to later. |
| The_Jester07-30-06, 02:01 PM | Version 0.0 of the Campaign standards has been out for a while now. It and the Mark of Heroes Campaign standards are enough to get characters created. They are available at these links: Xen'drik Standards - http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebxe/welcome MoH Standards - http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebmoh/welcome I've looked at the former. It did nothing but confuse me. I've read it through twice and still have no clue what stack slots are or expansion slots or what items are allowed and which are not. And really, if the MoH standards are so damn similar, which everyone seems to be suggesting, why didn't they just copy those and slap a new letterhead on top? It's bad enough version 1.0 isn't out but the Xen'drik subsite hasn't been updated since late June! No more interviews or updates. No more information in the Faction sections. No Fastplay characters (hope those using them in Indy have net access with printers and full collections of minis with them. I bet a few vendors will be jacking prices for those particular minis once the list is released). No character sheets or documentation. NADA! |
| Guan07-30-06, 02:16 PM | The Campaign Standards 1.0 will be out by Gencon. They are being worked on as we speak. As to why they are not out right now I cannot speak to that right now but there are very good reasons beyond any of our control as to why they are not out that will be clear in the next couple weeks. Dave C Nobody Somebody We'll have to take your word for it. Though last I checked, we were told they would be out for Origins, then Mid-July, now GenCon. Forgive me, but I won't be holding my breath. I do hope that this delay doesn't impact the campaign too much. |
| Mherduwynn07-30-06, 09:32 PM | ....though in my many years of working with Dave, I've never seen him be anything but forthright and trustful. The Fastplays are finished and shipped to HQ; they WILL be at GenCon (and up on thw web if we can at all arrange it). The Campaign Standards WILL be at GenCon (and also on the Web). There have been a few VERY unavoidable delays, but we won't let that stop us. I assure you all; XE will forge forward. As for anything impacting campaign, as long as you have characters to play and modules to play them through, what else could you ask for from a good GenCon? :) Take care, August Hahn |
| TimRat07-30-06, 09:34 PM | Like dave said the campaign standards are out and you can easily get playing with them. As far as new character sheets and the like i doubt you'll see any of that. As dave said there is a reason for all this and it will be talked about at the RPGA members meeting at gencon. Version 1.0 will be coming out before gencon as its being worked on fervently now along with many other things. the website and all that is up to the web person when they update it and such. Expansion slots are on a different sheet much like Mark of heroes. its basically the same thing as that. |
| delroland07-30-06, 11:20 PM | As dave said there is a reason for all this and it will be talked about at the RPGA members meeting at gencon. So when are those of us who can't go to GenCon going to become privy to that information? |

I'll happily call you on it Delroland. The standards are almost done and will be released by Gen Con. As Dave said, the reason the standards are not out has zero to do with the Gen Con or Campaign staff and are completely beyond our control or foreseeability. We are working overtime to get over this unexpected obstacle and should have it taken care of in the very near future. |
| delroland08-01-06, 03:29 AM | Awesome. That is all I wanted to hear. :D |
| Mherduwynn08-01-06, 05:52 AM | <blinks> Didn't I just say what Greg said? :) -August |
| smerwin2908-01-06, 07:49 AM | <blinks> Didn't I just say what Greg said? :) -August Yes, but you are obviously in a state of confusion! |
| raalynthslair08-04-06, 03:07 PM | Of course, given my faction, I suppose I would be the one concerned with faith, neh? ;) Gee and with your background I find it somehow disappointing that you didn't come back with "I find your lack of faith, disturbing!" Zor |
