I was wondering... can someone clarify whether or not poisons from the DMG are allowed, and if so, do I need to take a Slot to take them....

I know their expendable and so they cost x5

What about mithal?

I know it says AT FIRST LEVEL, but when I am equipping my level 4 character, are those items unlocked for my use?

Is there anything else I should look at?

Poisons seem to have slipped through the rules cracks. We'll have to discuss it, but I expect poisons will be limited at least (or possibly restricted for some factions).

Well for a Cabal of Shadows Character that gets to go into Assassin eventually, its good to make that available so they can use one of their trademark class features. Also, the poisons are VERY expensive, so making them cost x5 almost makes them to expensive to take more than one dose of. I don't think if you allow them, you will have any problems with people over using them.

How about poison for free you say? Step right up!

1. Be a Druid
2. Take the ECS feat: Child of Winter. Unlock slot cost: 0
3. Start summoning poisonous creatures.
4. Profit!

You can summon monstrous spiders for Strength poison, monstrous centipedes for Dexterity poison, and monstrous scorpions for Constitution poison. Also check out summon nature's aly II, which will let you summon a swarm of spiders, for _automatic_ poison hits.

Bottom line: Yay poison!

I was thinking more along the lines of an Assasin who uses a XBOW and posion.

AND I was thinking about my dragon shaman who is immune to paralysis, using the carrion crawler juice that causes paralysis... even tho he doens't have poison use, since he's immune to what he's messing with it should be ok... That will give him a little more punch since he can only breathe every d4 rounds.

Oh frak. I was assuming that they were open for not being listed and for being in the DMG. If they end up being restricted, can I get a retool on my Crimson Codex character's toxic tooth expansion slot, which would be rendered useless without poison?

For what it's worth, FactionMasters (and I just saw this in the FAQ, which is why I've replied with it to the "Craft Poison" thread nder Cabal of Shadows as well) - there doesn't appear to be anything in the official rules (PHB or DMG) that cites poisons as particularly evil in and of themselves.

I mention that because you mention that, as part of their review, they may be limited from certain factions. . . I know at least one rogue in the employ of the Covenant who doesn't mind the use of the occasional poison to incapacitate his foes.

Of course, that's assuming it's a matter of alignments that is under review. If, on the other hand, it's a matter of mechanics/balance that's an entirely different ball of wax. :)

Just 2 more copper pieces to add to the pile.

We just ran into this in a home game. It looks like the poison is evil restriction no longer exists in 3.5 or I couldn't find it.
