Question about "Retirement" [Archive] - Wizards Community

I am a new Herald-Level GM.

I'm just trying to plan ahead here, so I can tell my group/s what's going on ... What I see in the ordering system is the first three faction mods, the first two Dm's Marks, Well of Woe, and Mere ....

Am I correct in believing that, with the way the retirement of mods works, that if I wanted to DM a Xen'Drik Expeditions session for my local play group on Sat, Jan 20 and on Sat, Jan 27, there is currently nothing which I could order that won't be retired by those dates?

(I think I couldn't download it until three weeks ahead of time anyway, but I'm wondering if I understand this "retirement" system. Just as a side note, which is no doubt beyond the control of the Factionmasters, I would personally find it nice to be able to download DMs marks a bit father in advance than three weeks, so I could have time to write the adventures ... Especially if the group wanted to play all of the factions' DM's marks in a relatively short period of time, after finishing faction modules....)

The Campaign will go on approximately a one-month hiatus prior to each Level Bump, it seems. I believe this is to ensure that all events are reported prior to the level bump as the system gets very very confused if things if this isn't done. Since the first level bump is at D&D Experience in mid-February, all the current mods retire no later than mid-January so there won't be anything to play until the next set of mods are released. I've not heard yet whether things will be available at the same time as D&D Experience or whether there'll be a delay - it would be very very good to at least have one faction module available for all play from the first day of D&D Experience, rather than having to wait for months as has been the case in the past (particularly with Mark of Heroes). But we'll have to wait for an announcement about that, or start checking the ordering system in February to see what transpires.

Looks like it was somewhat of an unfortunate time for my Herald test to finally be approved then. We'll start playing, and then the campaign goes on hiatus for as long a period of time as we were playing! Oh well, I understand the philosophy behind the level-bumps. It's too bad the system seems to be so easily "confused."

It doesn't have to go on hiatus. My plan is to start running the February DM's Mark and just have it last for several weeks. The PCs can return to Stormreach once there's more for them to do there. :)
