Would it be possible and not to much to ask to prolong the availability of the Well of Woe series of adventures for home play?

One more month would be really really appreciated for us home players.

3 adventures in the span of a january is really hard to ask from my players, with families and such. And I'm not even talking about Mark of Heroes and their 2 adventures available in january. Hard choice will have to be made. :weep:

We just played yesterday the first adventure in the Cabal of Shadows faction (first XE campaign adventure as well) and we had so much fun. So little time is left for the 3 remaining adventures (available until december 31), that I'm on the verge of panicking here. :)

Am i alone in this situation ? If not, let yourselves be heard.

N.B Sorry for my english. It's not my first language. French is. I'm from Montreal, Qc actually.

Module availability and timing is one issue that we are actively working on. With level bumps coming frequently and only a two-year campaign lifespan, this is always going to be an issue, but we will make every effort we can to give everyone the best possible play windows of opportunity we can. However, like other issues we are seeing, we are not in control of the online parts of the campaign, which means module timing is out of our control.

Too bad you don't have that sort of power. It seems things would run much more smootly if you had.

Thanks for your time and answer !! :)

CG, Borris and I are hoping to run a couple of game days in December or January for Well of Woe in Montreal. I myself am quite eager to get either my Changeling bookworm or my Tharashk privateer into the Well of Woe.

Is the Well of Woe scalable for 3rd level characters or can it only be run for 1st level characters (as the description online says?)

Thanks,

It was created for first-level characters. With any of the XE adventures, the DM should feel free to scale it to fit the party, even if the adventure itself doesn't have "Scaling the Adventure" sections.

I went online to order a couple of scenarios (for a home game) yesterday and was not able to find Well of Woe.

I ended up ordering some others.

Any hints?

I'd like to do this in early Jan.

Thanks in advance!

Well of Woe is not playable for Home Games until January 1, which means you can't order it until three weeks before that point.

According to the Adventures part of the RPGA site, Well of Woe is available starting 11/27/06 for home play and goes until 1/17/07. Am I missing something?

Nope. In the four (that's right FOUR!) days since I looked it up and posted the info, the database has been changed to offer them up earlier, but cut off the last date you can play. I have read the explanations, but it still hurts people who are trying to play all four factions. (There goes my schedule for the next month and a half!) ;)

Herrbard,
You are not alone. I'm playing on average 2 adventures a week or so in order to get all the old ones in, then have to find time to play and run the 5 new ones. :)

We are aware that play time will be a little rough this time around, but after this first level bump, I think we've worked out a good schedule with HQ. We just need to iron out the last of the wrinkles from the staffing changes in HQ. Things should run a lot more smoothly now that Chris Tulach is in the Content Manager position.

I've been really impressed with the way that the new campaign has been able to address some of the (perceived) shortcomings of the previous campaigns with things like the factionmasters, AJs, more mods, etc.

I've been hearing from a lot of regular RPGA players recently a common complaint that they don't like the level bump because they don't have the same connection to their character if they don't _earn_ the xp and level. Why bother playing in games if they can skip games and still level their character?

I know (and have explained) good reasons for the level bump, but I've also been trying to make sure that as many games as possible can be run locally to address this issue. Mainly, I've been doing this so that the players can potentially beat the level bump, and not feel so discouraged.

We've got a lot of the games to get characters close to the level bump, but we are now in a position of struggleing to get the time to play the games because they are out for such a short period.

I just wanted to say this to keep it in the minds of the people planning the release and retirement dates. I'm just trying to keep interest up for the campaign, and I'm concerned I may lose players who can't play over the holdiays because of family, hit the level bump, and become discouraged.

I just want to say that despite anything in the schedule, level bumps, or modules, I've the utmost respect for the faction masters for doing a great job with the modules and standards and getting a lot of personality put into this campaign. This is honestly the first RPGA campaign I've really been interested in to the point of wanting to make my own character for each faction and play as many of the adventures as possible. I don't think I'll get to do any of the DM Mark's due to time constraints, but the regular ones I've done all but the 2nd CoL.

Do the Factionmasters have an idea of what the expected release schedule might be and when level bumps will occur and by how much? It might help to plan out things in advance if we knew this. I also know that information like that is unlikely to be provided because there will be people who on the day that was proposed for a level bump will post frantically that it didn't occur at the right time. Just something for thought though.

I'm sorta in the camp of "I prefer to level my characters" rather than have them bumped, but I think the bump is a good thing since at least initially, only one faction character could go through the 3-round Well of Woe. The 2nd Exepeditions module is only 1 round so your other 3 faction characters won't be too far behind.

Anyways, main point is, for the Factionmasters, just be aware that Game Day and Home Play accounts for a lot of people's play time and modules take time to plan for and run (and play for those of us who want to do both). For the players, be aware that the FM's don't always have the final say in things and are doing a great job so far!

That's the important thing. Yeah there have been database/schedule problems, but I've been really impressed with the amount of work the FM's have put in to straighten it out. The campaign is interesting enough that I'm definitely willing to deal with some hold-ups if it's getting generally better, not worse (which I think it is).

Glad to hear that you guys are working smoothly with Chris Tulach (I had wondered if XE would be a priority for him, or if he would show more love to LG, etc).

Also, Skerrit - You said the RPGA show is at the end of January? Was that a typo or is Winter Fantasy 2007/D&D Experience not going to happen mid to late February?

I have to chip in with everyone else.

While there have bumps in the road (database issues, HQ staffing changes, shortened playwindows for the moment), I really like how responsive people have been here in the forums.

Heck, we even managed to badger Ian into investigating changes to the DM-tests, and looks like those are being integrated into the DCI testing system.

The RPGA is definately moving in the right direction, and I'd like to thank everyone who's put their share of elbow grease into the process.

. . . now. . . quit patting yourselves on the back and gimmie my CS 1.1, D&D EXP dates, Xen'Ex Character Sheets. . . .

/yes, I'll always have a near-infinite list of "wants," why do you ask?
//is that a fireball wand you're pointing my way?
