First off I am sorry if this has been answered elsewhere on the forums.

The home group that I play with is considering Xen'Drik Expeditions, and we have run into a few problems when it comes to character creation. The campaign standards v1.0 that the website is linked to borders on being incomprehensible in terms of character creation guidelines. The big thing that is confusing us is the expansion list stuff. The document talks of expansion items, but doesn't include anything to let us know what is an expansion item or how many expansion points it uses. We found a draft copy of v1.1 on the web that includes an expansion list, and it is much easier to understand. I understand it is a draft and changes could be made prior to it becoming official, but assuming none of the characters are making overly exotic builds would it be safe to assume that the expansion list included in this draft copy would make it unchanged into the final copy? More things could be added to the list, but I am more concerned with the things already listed having the expansion slot value changed like the number of expansion slots required to take a class not granted by your faction. The reason this has even become an issue is one of our guys wants to play a warmage, but we are going to be Cabal of Shadows. Another is wanting to use the alternate progression from PHB2.

The standards are based off of the Mark of Heroes Campaign standards. The Xen'drik Expeditions expansion lists are still being reviewed. Until the new standards are up, and with the expansion list hopefully, I suggest using the MoH standards to fill in the blanks.

I understand it is a draft and changes could be made prior to it becoming official, but assuming none of the characters are making overly exotic builds would it be safe to assume that the expansion list included in this draft copy would make it unchanged into the final copy?It seems relatively safe at this point to make that assumption. Even if it doesn't pan out, the content managers have promised to be pretty lenient with rebuilds, especially given the chaos surrounding the XE launch.More things could be added to the list, but I am more concerned with the things already listed having the expansion slot value changed like the number of expansion slots required to take a class not granted by your faction. As long as you're only putting a single thing on the expansion list the number of slots it takes up is irrelevant. And with only the two faction mods and the two DM marks currently available, I'm not sure you could even reach 3rd level. Without Well of Woe, anyway.

Short answer: I wouldn't worry about it. It'll all get straightened out before it becomes critical.
