| Timlagor09-18-06, 07:31 AM | 1) Do the PHB2 classes get their spells or do they have to be taken seperately in expansion slots? 2) Could the Factionmasters consider inproving the return on Expansion SLots spent on spells in some fashion? My proposal would be a straightforward increase to '3 spells of your choice' (possibly with a requirement they be from the same book) for each slot. I think making the Spell Compendium 'Unlimmitted' would be a bit much but there are an awful lot of spells people could want to take with their very limitted expansion slots and spellcasters still want all the other things that other people are taking in their expansion slots too. |
| Marcus Majarra09-18-06, 02:45 PM | 1) When a character class is unlocked for a given character, its normal features are unlocked too. For example, if you're playing a duskblade, you can consider the duskblade spell list from the PHB2 to be unlocked. 2) 1 bonus spell per unlock is more than enough. You don't need to be that versatile. You just need to find your niche. |
| Timlagor09-20-06, 10:12 AM | 1) Is that official? ...I haven't seen anything saying so (I presume you do mean all the spells on the spell list) 2) So play a Sorceror not a Wizard? Not to decry the PHB spells but there's a lot that isn't in there. 2 non-PHB spells per spell level really is not very much [and you only get [i]that if you use every single expansion slot on spells]. |

The next version of the CS will answer many of these questions. The way it is currently looking, you will get spell lists for your class. If it's on your list, and not restricted, you'll have free access to it. As for the 2nd point--we're already two (seven?) steps ahead of you on that one. Can't let the cat out of the bag. It's also not an "obvious" economic transaction at the order of I pay 1, I get 3 things. That's too simplistic :P Instead we aim to allow a lot more freedom in character creation, and access to a broader spectrum of material. Does the same thing, but in a different way. Sort of. Kinda. What were we talking about again? ;) |

| kiddoc09-20-06, 02:12 PM | Sounds like your putting a lot more work into it than I dared hope for :D Thanks very much! We've put a LOT of time and effort into it--and that's part of the reason that it's not out already. We're doing a careful job of deciding, debating, testing, writing, and editing the new material. We really want it to be as close to the "best of both worlds" as possible. Some people will be unhappy, for sure, but I think the overwhelming majority of our players will find the changes both welcome and perhaps quite enticing. |
