How exactly does choosing spells work? I'm going to be making a druid, and it would be nice to have an idea of what books I have access to, and how I get access to other books for spells.

You'll have access to all PHB and ECS (Eberron Campaign Setting) druid spells. You can also "unlock" spells, as well as mundane items, magic items, and feats (which are colletively known as rules items) from the sources found on Page 2 of the Campaign Standards (under Optional Materials). Basically, each level you have a slot on the expansion list, that lets you unlock a mundane item, magic item, feat, or spell. So, if you're healing oriented, at first level you can unlock "Vigor, Lesser" from the Spell Compendium. At second level, you could grab another spell, and at third level you could grab a feat instead. You can put things on your expansion list before your character can purchase or select them. However, putting it on the expansion list does not mean you get anything for free, it just allows you to take the rules item in the normal fashion.

In this campaign, there are special options for using the first few slots of the expansion list with a new character (PHBII alternate class features, Races of XXX racial substitution levels, and magic item supply kits), so look into those before deciding if you really need that spell or feat at 1st level. Hope that answers more questions than it creates.

Just because it may not be obvious, you get one expansion slot per character level you posess. Also, once you make those choices, they are set in stone; you can't go back and use that slot to grab a different spell once the lower level one becomes useless, for example.

Also, since you're playing a druid, i'd reccomend looking into the Druid sects detailed in the ECS. Each of them take a feat to "join", but in return you get an expanded spell list.

As an aside (you may not care, but it's interesting to point out) the races with +1 LA start the campaign as second level characters, so i suppose they each get two expansion list choices right from the get-go. I doubt that it's an issue though, since the racial subsitution and consumable item packages both take the first two expansion item choices. I'm guessing they'll be popular picks for those race/class combinations that offer them (or anyone with a CHA of 12+ in the case of the consumable items)
