I have been asked to run some Xen’Drik Expedition stuff for a group here and I have a few questions before I get started.

1. I presume that all the characters need to be from the same faction.
2. What mod should I start with? I know that would depend on the faction of the players. Apparently I will need to run the first mod for the faction before running “Expedition 1: Well of Woe Round 1”.
3. Can characters from different factions join to play “Expedition 1: Well of Woe Round 1”?
4. There does not seem to be characters sheets, Progression Sheets, and Magic and Stack Sheets for the campaign. It appears that they should just use the “Mark of Heroes” paperwork.
5. I see that there is a thread about updates to the Campaign Standards. When will the newly updates standards be coming out? I will be starting mid December and would like to start as current as possible.

For faction modules all the characters need to be from the same faction. Some modules allow multiple factions, such as the Well of Woe, which allows any.

2. What mod should I start with? I know that would depend on the faction of the players. Apparently I will need to run the first mod for the faction before running “Expedition 1: Well of Woe Round 1”.

Find the faction that you would enjoy running the most, or that your players most prefer to play in then run the 1st module for that faction. I'd suggest following with the DMs mark 1 for that faction, or the well of woe, as the faction module 2s are not designed for starting characters (not to say they can't do it, just is a bit tougher).

3. Can characters from different factions join to play “Expedition 1: Well of Woe Round 1”?

Yes, in Well of Woe the players can be of mixed factions.

4. There does not seem to be characters sheets, Progression Sheets, and Magic and Stack Sheets for the campaign. It appears that they should just use the “Mark of Heroes” paperwork.

For now yes, the XE character sheets have not been posted yet. The only difference that I can think of offhand is the expansion list, XE characters should have an expansion slot at 1st level, which the MoH progression sheet does not give.

5. I see that there is a thread about updates to the Campaign Standards. When will the newly updates standards be coming out? I will be starting mid December and would like to start as current as possible.

Go ahead and get ready now, have the characters made as best you can according to the current campaign standards. Of course the new standards will open a few character options. If someone sees something in the non-released standards that they simply must play then I would suggest contacting the appropriate faction master to double check the validity of that option. If the new standards aren't ready before you start then at least you'll have the yay or nay response on those items.

Use the adventure journals. Some of the web tracking is only semi-functional, and the journal is an official source of documention for a character. This currently affects cert codes the most, make sure the players write down their benefits or that you give them copies to keep with their adventure journal.

So I will need to pick a faction and then run the faction mod followed by either the approreate DM's Mark mod or the Well of Woe mod. Correct?

The Faction 1 mods and DM's Mark 1 mods both have things in them that could help a party in Well of Woe. I would suggest picking a faction, playing those two mods, and then doing Well of Woe.

There is another problem of time. Our first session will be Dec. 9th. They will play the faction mod on that day. The next secheduled event will be Dec. 30 and then Jan. 20. then Feb. 10. I don't see how we will be able to complete the Well of Woe in that time frame. I thought you had longer for givne mods...

They will still be 1st level (just barely) if you run the faction mod 1 and the DMs mark 1. Figure the faction mod 1 and DMs mark 1 to be about 400-450xp each. The faction mod 2 is worth both of those put together, but is set up for 2nd level characters.

It's possible that you can get second level after both those mods. I did with the Crimson Codex, and the web tracker gave me my second level.

Not to worry about all that. your dates will allow the progression to happen well.

My group just started XE recently and we followed the same paths suggested and are getting ready for Well of Woes in Dec/Jan. It breaks down to 3 nice 4 hours mods anyways.

My group can usually only get together 1 per month and we have worked it well under the suggested progression....so give a whirl!
