The only cards I know of are the A Forged Apart, People of Mind, and Uncommon Changeling. I believe one of the cards attainable at the delve could make you a Half-Giant, and unlock psionics. Also, i don't think Changelings can take psionic prestiege classes from XPH. However, one psionic prestiege class from Complete Adventurer was unlocked for them, shadowmind or something, maybe? |

| Lightblade08-14-06, 02:01 PM | I am mainly interested in unlocking Wild Talent and a Prestige Class with a non-changeling, half-giant, psi-forged or kalashtar character. There's no way to do that currently. However, i had heard that some Mark of Heroes module (i think it was some retired DM's mark) unlocked Wild Talent and did what you wanted. Perhaps the same will happen in Xen'drik at some point. However, since there's no retooling of feats, classes, or skills in this campaign, it wouldn't be a good idea to plan your chararacter around this. |
| Harliquinn08-14-06, 02:14 PM | Where did you see/read/hear that there is no retooling of feats, skills, etc? At GenCon we were told that some adventures would permanently modify your characters, but that outside of those specific changes, things were modifiable as you wanted (and within the rules/guidelines). Considering that the official restricted list hasn't been published and is always subject to change, there has to be retooling allowed. |
| Lightblade08-14-06, 02:40 PM | Well, i didn't make it to Gen Con this year, so i don't know what people are saying. But the impression i got from Page 8 of the Campaign Standards, under Gaining Levels and Equipping Characters, was that race/class/feat/skill points were taken at one point and fixed, while equipment could be freely retooled. In my mind, that was the whole point of the Adventure Journal; to write down your class, skill, and feat choices. Compare that to MoH, where you could freely retool anything but your race and classes (although in that campaign you could probably change a class with the racial subsitution level of that class once you got around to unlocking it). If you reread the standards and still feel differently than i do, it might be best to call out the question of retooling in a new thread. |
| Harliquinn08-14-06, 03:12 PM | Well, I admit that the retooling option is explicitly not listed. However, without a restricted list or more details about such, I can't believe that a character could be locked in already. Also, adventure journals only became available on the first day of GenCon and only one of my DM's signed one (The Well of Woe adventure). He signed it without anything actually being on the sheet as well. My understanding from several people was that 'special' modifications to your character had to be signed (e.g. you open a door and get hit with a permanent +1 Strength). If it is otherwise, I think a *lot* of people from GenCon don't have signed adventure journals, since most didn't know they existed. Who knows where it will eventually go though. Harliquinn |

Harliquinn And a lot MORE people from Origins and Game Days and Retail Play don't have them, since they were not around when they played. I ran 10 tables of Xen'drik at GenCon; I signed quite a few journals, but others either did not want to spend the $1.00 that HQ was charging for copies, or did not think they were important. Most of the latter struck me as folks who were just experimenting, while the ones who had them or went up and got them when I mentioned it were looking at playing long term. We'll see in the next few weeks as the Campaign Standards are finalized what will happen. |
| Harliquinn08-14-06, 07:06 PM | I had mine printed out before the con (I got lucky and noticed them before I left). However, I was also told that only things that permanently modified your character needed to be tracked, so didn't mention the signing thing. I did have people put their name on the Journal for each adventure though so at least I know who my DM was :) Unfortunately I didn't have all permanent aspects of each character 'done' by game time (Mainly I chose some starting stats that were reasonable, etc), so I wouldn't have wanted those recorded as permanent anyways. |
