I have just recently begun a XE campaign in my area. I registered for the RPGA and took the test to DM and have already run one game for my group locally. I love it, we love being able to retool the equipment between quests, we love the factions and whatnot.

But since we are starting off as 7th level and we missed 6+ levels of events, we all (especially me) feel like I don't exactly know what is going on. I've read the official "what's happened" synopsis, but then when I run a quest, there are references to people that they should already know or events that have already transpired. I feel a bit lost. I could just go with it and we'd adapt, but it could be more fun to try to get a hold of those old adventurers and play through them. I was thinking about turning them into a sort of flashback scene every now and again to emphasize the high points, nothing official, but fun.

First off, have any of you guys already done something like that, or know another way of catching up? Secondly, is there any way I can get a hold of these quests? Any input or help would be appreciated.

The retired mods aren't available, but there is a summary of the mods between the 4th and 7th-level bumps on the RPGA front page right now (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebxe/20070924a)

Let me expand on what Greg said.

The retired adventures cannot be released. I wish they could, but they cannot. Only the folks at WotC can explain why. The best we can do is put a synopsis, which you have already seen.

On the design side of things, here is the conundrum we face. Most players want Xen'drik Expeditions to be a tight campaign with recurring characters and events in the past having weight on the future events. The only problem with this, even if done correctly, is that people joining the campaign late do miss out on some of the continuity. My best suggestion is this: if you are preparing to run a particular adventure, and you come across a character or an event that you need more information about, post your questions to the Faction sub-sections of the adventure you are running. Not only will you probably get several answers from players and DMs who have already been through the adventure, the Factionmaster might also chime in.

I hope this helps, and I wish I could help more.

Building on the solid advice of my fellow factionmasters, let me recommend that you consider this forum to be just like another sourcebook for the Xen'drik campaign. Never hesitate to post a question if you have one; we are happy to assist you in any way we can.

Besides, an Expeditions campaign (or any other, for that matter) can only be improved by doing your research on a scenario or setting ahead of time. By asking questions and doing a little digging here, you can uncover all kinds of valuable information that can then go straight into your game. Players appreciate a rich, elaborate campaign world and we can definitely provide you with what you need to accomplish this.

Take care and game on!
