| Rerednaw12-01-06, 09:21 AM | Hi all, I have been running Living Greyhawk and we are taking a stab at Xen'drik Expeditions. I downloaded the first Blackwheel Faction adventure. Did I miss something, I can find the module info and tracking sheet, but there aren't any adventure records. Does XE not use them? How does a player track his character? Thanks. |

Thanks. There are no adventure records for the XE campaign. Character tracking is all done online and in each players adventure/faction journal. After you report each game the character is rewarded XP and GP based on their success. Before the next adventure each adventure a player needs to check his character tracker to find his current level and GP total, and then he makes sure he shows up at the game with these values. This does mean a character's gear can be changed entirely from one session to the next, as well as the fact that consumables expended aren't micro-managed either (hence the 5x cost on consumables). There are only a few minor details that are carefully tracked, and those should be on the players adventure/faction journal. This includes such things as class choiced, attributes, skills, and feats. Filling out the journal for each game is as close to an AR as you will get, but it does not include detailed item, gp, or experience tracking. Make sure your players show up with thier adventure journals, they are part of the official character tracking, and should be used from thier first game on. Also I might suggest printing out extra copies of the electronic cert items from the module, as the web tracking is not quite 100% on those and it would be nice for the players to have copies of those items that they earned. |

There are no ARs in Xen'drik Expeditions, but there are some things that are close. Each player should print out and have an Adventure Journal for each character; there are different AJs per faction. The players can keep track of their character information on that, and the DM signs it during the session. These can be found on the wizards RPGA Xen'drik homepage (on the right). The newer games (faction mods #3 and EXE2) have the XP and gold listed in the module, but older modules were using an older format. The XP and gold was tracked in an online database, and calculated from a series of questions that the DM answers at the end of the session. The players could log into their account, click on their character, and find out gold and level (but not exact xp). There were some issues with the online database, so XE is now tracking xp, gold, and story objects (included in the mods) via both the online database and the AJs. The current characters sheets and AJs are not as up to date, so they don't have locations for xp, gold, or story objects. You'll need to just note it somewhere until the new versions come out. Just to warn you, there is an updated Campaign Standard that is supposed to come out very soon (it was expected this week). There will be some rule changes in it, and you can find links to it in this forum. Also in this forum are some "averaged xp" for the first set of adventures. The online database values may be different, but the "averaged xp" was published to help the players who were missing games from the database. (There is also a discussion elsewhere in these forums about this.) Also, just as a heads up, there are 19 games that expire at the end of this year, and another set of 5 that expire on Jan 17th. Shortly after that, all characters will be bumped to 4th level, and a new set of 4th level modules put out. It would be easiest if you pick a single faction, and run those games quickly before they expire. I hope you enjoy Xen'drik Expeditions. Have fun! --Steven |
