| Shadowed Intent08-19-07, 03:59 PM | It seems the big finale is coming. According to the announcement from Ian Richards and Chris Tulach The Factionmasters have prepared a great final story arc that really engages all of the factions into a final two-round spectacular at Origins next yearAn impressive ending at Origins. It sounds very exciting. It also sounds very much like an Expedition adventure. If it is allowed for homeplay, (which I imgaine it will be, considering how much things have improved for home play) it will still not be available for online play? I've never understood the prohibition against online play for Expedition adventures. We can play Xen'drik Expeditions online, just not an actual Expedition adventure. It is okay for home play of Expedition adventures, but only F2F. I accepted it when I started playing online. I've never understood it but I accepted it. I like the faction adventures and enjoy the play. I did not realize this might mean I will miss the finale for Xen'drik Expeditions. I would like to play Expeditions adventures online. And I most definitely would like to be able to play any Xen'drik Expeditions "final two round spectaculars" online. Can I? |
| WolfStar7608-19-07, 04:10 PM | Well, we can anticipate another level bump at the D&D Experience this year, and that means a new CS4.0. At the member's meeting it sounded like they expect to tie-in to the new dnd insider at the RPGA, and allow "all adventures to be online-allowed". I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that in a future CS we get the ability to play Expeditions online. (and before its asked, no, they don't intend to make you play online using ONLY their tools - FGII, OpenRPG, IRC, it's all good. They think you'll WANT to use the tools from dndinsider, but won't require them.) I think part of the reason behind not allowing it online is that the Expeditions are to XE what Specials are to Geryhawk. They just want that face-to-face experience to keep them "special". That's just my opinion, however. |
| Timlagor08-20-07, 09:00 PM | Have they completely failed to notice how few people have spent the *one off* $20 to use fantasy grounds (name may be wrong)? Have they forgotten how important it was that they made RPGA membership free? |
| DiegoNegro08-30-07, 03:06 PM | I echo Shadowed Intent's sentiments and hope for expedition play online! Rah, Rah, Rah:cheer: |
| Vamroc08-31-07, 02:27 AM | Expedition is going to die in less than a year so why start now. The logic of porting a game that's on life support to a new medium is a waste of time and resources. They should have had online play when the world was created |
| Harliquinn08-31-07, 08:40 AM | Xen'drik Expeditions the 'campaign' has allowed online play since the beginning or near to it. Expedition modules (all factions) hasn't been playable online. Making a change now in the last year is certainly still a good option as it will let people play more. This would be similar to the Living Greyhawk removing TU's and allowing people to play in other regions freely. John |

DnD Campaigns run on a two year story arc. I guess you could call it middle aged, (it still seems new and fresh to me however) surely that isn't life support? Just not actual "expedition" adventures. I am hoping this restriction will be lifted. However, I am beginning to think I may be looking down my lance at a windmill. |
| MysticRhythms09-03-07, 10:37 AM | What would REALLY be nice is if we could unlock all mods 1 through 7 for people to play the entire campaign arc from the beginning a=la Greyhawk's removal of the TU mechanic. This would encourage more 3.5 play heading into the announcement of 4.0. I sure wouldn't mind playing things I missed. |
| Harliquinn09-03-07, 12:44 PM | The only way they could unlock those would be to make them worth no XP or GP, otherwise those people who didn't play them and are now level bumped would be vastly ahead of everyone who's been playing since the beginning. You can probably find people willing to send you the old mods to play for fun. |
