| MysticRhythms07-10-06, 09:36 AM | I just downloaded the blurbs for the various DM's Marks I want to run. I'd like to make mine look as professional as possible. What do you folks use? Does anyone out there have templates for formatting adventures to make them look like the MoH/XenEx style of module? Any help would be appreciated much! |

However, I came to the conclusion that it really was overdoing it as the DM's Mark's I'm planning on releasing are really not much more than glorified outlines with statblocks (no sense overwriting it, as DM's are likely to tweak it to suit their own group/needs). My outline is something like: Background (This is the only fully detailed part of the scenario, so that the DM has a firm foundation to build on). Encounters Each encounter begins with a one paragraph description of what is supposed to happen during the encounter. The location is given a brief description, along with any key NPC's. If there is supposed to be dialogue with NPC's, I briefly list what they know that is relevant and what they will and will not discuss. If there is combat, I quickly mention unusual tactics and conditions for victory, defeat, and surrender. Ideally, any single encounter does not take more than one column on a two-column page. Conclusion The conclusion discusses any odds and ends, particularly how to apply any story objects from the DM's Marks. Statblocks An appendix with non-standard statblocks, laid out in the new DMGII format. I am also including information for scaling encounters (for my first scenario, I'm including info for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level parties). Because I know that I'm already riding the edge of the OGL rules (because of the Eberron content), if I use rules from non-OGL sources, I identify where I got them from but do not reprint the rules. I also list alternate PHB spells/feats to use if those sources aren't available to the judge. In all, my first DM's Mark scenario looks like it will be about 8 pages with the cover. Rob Little |
