| Shandronas07-22-07, 03:19 PM | So I'm a bit muddled by the rules surrounding crafting non-consumable items in XE. I'm a 5th level artificer with all the appropriate item creation feats as well as extraordinary artisan. The closest thing I can find regarding this is the paragraph on page seven of the XECS that states: "Taking this feat allows characters to craft consumable items for x2 published cost, or half the published cost instead of 3/4 the published cost." Now under the section detailing item creation feats, it states that those characters with the appropriate item creation feat may purchase non-consumable items at 2/3 the normal cost with no XP cost. Nowhere in the XECS have I been able to find anything mentioning paying 3/4 cost for an item, consumable or no. Is this a simple typo, and if so, are the following correct? Purchasing a Amulet of Health (assuming UMD/Caster Level requirements are met) costs 2000 gp. ((2*2*1,000gp)/2)=2000gp. Upgrading MW Heavy Steel Shield to +2 costs 2170gp. (170gp+((2*2*1,000gp)/2))=170gp. Thanks in advance for the info. |

[I'm optimistic that the CL wording will be changed in the next XECS to reflect the 'Core Rules' ..and possibly incorporate MIC rules too] Your Steel Shield example is rather confusing but I think you have it right in your head: - heavy Steel Shield: 20gp - MW HSS: 20gp+ 150gp = 170gp You don't have to pay this again if you are upgrading and not can you reduce this cost afaik. +2 Heavy Steel Shield: 4170gp Cost to *Upgrade* a MW HSS to a +2HSS: 2000gp (with CA&A and Extraordinary Artisan) Total cost to you for a +2HSS: 2170gp (personally I'd make is a +1 Animated HSS for 4670gp ;) ..though the CL requirement may mean you can't do that yet) |
| Shandronas07-22-07, 07:01 PM | Yeah, slight muck-up with my shield example. The end cost should have been 2170, but missed that I hadn't put a '2' in front of it. So what I was assuming was essentially correct. Thanks, again. |
