I haven't played DnD for over five years, so I dont have a group. I decided to join up with RPGA to get some rp time in.

I suspect the Xen'Drik Expeditions campaign hasn't started for regular RPGA members yet?

I think I saw a start date at Gen Con ? (never been :(

Anyone know when the adventures become available for non super convention goers??

The first mod of each faction is already available.

Go here https://events.wizards.com/RPGAWeb/external/scenarios.asp to find the scenarios available. Filter for the Xen'drik Expeditions stuff, and that will show you when things start and end.

Thx for the link. Thx for the speedy replys as well.

Glad to be on the boards!! :)

I saw the Secrets of Xen'Drik sourcebook in the local games shop but resisted purchasing it. I think I would rather be surprised and play with a sense of mystery about the new world I find myself in.

I really miss the old rp days of when everything was new. I would like to capture that again. Ahh nostalgia.

While this campaign ought to be fun, I'm a bit diasappointed there is going to be a "Secrets of Xen'drik" book at all. I remember when Eberron first game out, Keith said that there was likely never to be a book about Xen'drik, because he and design team wanted to keep at least one place for DMs to flesh out themselves.

Having done a cursory look at Secrets of Xen'drik it's more about adventures and some key locations/cultures than it is a full sourcebook about all of Xen'drik. There are nice starting points, plot points, and locales that GM's can use to get them started. There's also details on stormreach (Which is a great thing) so that the DM's can launch their groups from there. Overall I think it contains enough detail to allow a GM to flesh it out without giving away everything.

And there are still Sarlona, Argonnessen, Dal Quor, etc. to be fleshed out as well.

Sorry, newb to Xen'Drik with questions;

The website says the first four adventures (one for each faction) are available at retail on 7/29. Does that mean that you can purchase these at retail now? If you become an RPGA certified DM, can you get these another way? There's just not a lot of events in my area and my D&D group is thinking of starting one ourselves.

Cheers!

OK, they are not "purchased". What that means is that an RPGA GM of Herald level or higher can order these for events run at a retail location (like your Friendly Local Games Store). There is no charge to download and run the mods. They are also available to be run as a game day event, and will be available next month as home games. So you can start your own group through them by having someone with an RPGA number pass the Herald Level test, order them, download them, and run them for your group.

No, it means that they can be ordered for use in games run in retail locations. When you order a module to run for your group, there are 4 different 'levels' of play: Convention (huge group of about 10+ tables of players or so), Game Day (A open, public event where people can come to play), Retail (As per Game day expect held in a retail outlet) and Home (Run at home, not open to public).

The book is, I agree, just a very basic overview of the high points of the continent. It is a very useful book for GMs (like myself) to have a good base to work from for adventuring parties in the continent. AND with some races (the giant-kin, and the Drow specifically) being "from" the continent it IS nice to have some sense of the land and the societies they come from.
