Im sort of new to this forum, so Im hoping that Im posting this in the correct place.

If not, I apologise ahead of time.

I was reading through the last issue of Dragon and came across the mention of The Elders, also called the Ancient Brethren.

Well, to make a long story short, it piqued my interest and I thought about making an Epic Campaign pitting adventurers against the forces of these " unfathomably old beings."

My problem is this:

I have researched in everything that I could possibly get my hands on.

But, other than The Lady of Pain, Asmodeus, The Serpent( who according to some references may in fact be just another name for Asmodeus) and Jazirian (The Couatl God). I cant seem to find any information or even theories on what other being may hold membership to this brotherhood of primal powerhouses.

Does anyone out there know anything more about this group? And if not, do you have any suggestions on who I might include in my version of it?

Thanks in advance for the help:D

Which article? That would help, the term may be setting-specific. Greyhawk may have Elders, but as far as I know, FR's got Ao, Eberron the progneiter dragons.

The Lady is a mystery, plain and simple.

Asmodeus is a powerful devil, originally a powerful servent of primal Law. I don't recall mention of Jazirian in 3E, but I would think that now that Asmodeus is, in most recent canon, not a primal being of Law, that Jazirian would stick to just lording over the coautls.

The Serpent has been described as a powerful primal being, but may also just be a part of Vecna's madness.

The planes don't give up their mysteries easily, though there are gaping holes, like the supposed primal NG outsiders (Mirror of the Baernaloths), the beings on the highest level of Chronias, or the Rilmani leaders, among others. It's really up to you. If you want some ideas, check out the Avatar trilogy of books (Especially the last one), and the latter three Gord novels.

Not sure if this helps but I designed a creature (in the Immortals Handbook: Epic Bestiary) called the Maskim (Ancient One) which was indirectly based on the Ancient Brethren.

While you could always check out the book, if thats not an option I suggest checking out any scraps of information on the Maskim, or Maskim Xul you can find, as they make perfect stand ins for the Ancient Brethren.
