If a PC is 5th level agent retriever and a 5th level wizard, would a spell cast by him be at 10th level since he gains spells as if rising in spellcaster level? Does that mean the H.D. of the spell rises as well?

The character has a combined caster level of 10, so he'll have the spell stats, spells per day, and spells known of a 10th-level wizard.

WEll he can't be *just* a AR5/W5 - he must have other classes. But let's assume you mean he doesn't have any other spellcasting classes, and that he was a W5 before taking any AR levels. At each level of AR you can add a level of spellcasting ability for any class you already have - so yes, he could be able to cast spells the same as a W10 at this point. If you were a Cleric/Wizard, you could choose at each level which class to add spellcasting to, or even alternate, or whatever you wanted. You could even add Bard or Ranger spellcasting if those were your existing spellcasting classes.

This works the same as for any other PrC that adds +1 level of existing spellcasting.
