| NinjaPenguin07-20-07, 10:06 AM | Or be human, take a level of Rogue, and Able Learner? It does seem odd, though. |
| rob_douglas07-20-07, 11:43 AM | Yeah, it is annoying. It also seems like a good class for a Bard - but bard's can't be lawful, and AR's are supposed to be lawful. I personally nixed the lawful requirement. Heck, one of the ARs in the Gleaners is not even Lawful pre-errata. A Ranger/Bard seems like an ideal build for it. the ELH certainly didn't expect Able Learner, since that feat hadn't yet been invented. The other problem is that Knowledge (the Planes) is also cross class for Ranger, so getting in there is hard. Player in my party did it with Ranger20/Cleric2/Rogue1 - just barely - needed an INT boost at 21st level for the extra skill points. but his 24th level will be AR1. (And he is NG, not Lawful....) The strict Gather Information prereq needs to be lowered to 15 ranks or so. Frankly, I revamped this PrC after watching Raiders of the Lost Ark & The Goonies on a very rainy day....what can I say? I was inspired by Indy and the Truffle Shuffle. I am happy to follow alignment restrictions that maske sense. those that don't make sense are summarily dropped. |
| rob_douglas07-20-07, 04:48 PM | So what was your revamp - just remove the AL restriction, and drop Gather Info to 15? BTW, I actually kept an alignment restriction - non-chaotic, non-evil. I thought they wanted to have those you could trust, and I felt CG and LE both did not fit the role as I saw it. ROB |

Artifact knowledge provides the character with detailed info about the history and present location of a powerful artifact. This ability is similar to the Epic Arcane Artisan's ability to "have created magic items now and again during down time". The ability assumes the character has been studying and researching in and around adventures. All other abilities are as presented in the ELH. |
