| Grandmaster_Kane07-11-07, 09:06 PM | The demiurge have decided to end it all They will fight till there is only 1 left. None has any notions of team up with on another. Who takes this? Stats of the combatants from Dicefreaks Demogorgan http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=213 Grazzt http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=217 Orcus http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=218 APOLLYON http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=220 FRAZ URB ‘LUU http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=182 MERODACH http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1153 Pale Night http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=870 PAZUZU http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=224 ZUGGYTMOY http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=185 LOLTH http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=673 (scroll down to second post) My money is on APOLLYON but what do you think? |
| Witch07-11-07, 09:09 PM | Only three choices? :( |
| Grandmaster_Kane07-11-07, 09:23 PM | Well these three are said to have the greatest htred for each other but if you want i could add the rest of them |
| Tequila_Sunrise07-12-07, 01:17 AM | My money is on Asmodeus, who swoops down upon the severely weakened victor to finish the Blood War forever. |
| Thegans07-12-07, 02:42 AM | If someones voting for Asmodeous I am voting for the yuggoloths under the control of the General of Gehenna and the fall of the upper planes. Or maybe some unnamed Demon Lord that realizes "Hey look the three strongest Demon Lords if I get a necromancer I can have there souls trapped when there weak after killing each other I mean I am sure me and my minion necromancer could take out whoever survives. Then I can try to absorb the powers of the souls." Or the Queen of Chaos. |
| Rikandur_Azebol07-12-07, 02:04 PM | Graz'zt. He's patient and works in more unforgiving environment than Asmodeus. Gimmie a break, King of Hell have unstoppable backing that Graz'zt does not posess ... and yet, Ebon Prince managed to conquer 3 layers of chaotic and rebbelious plane. Kudos to Demo, but It's too old to be sane anymore. And was unable to do It's dream for those untold aneons ... wich equals inability. Orcus ... he'll probably return, demon prince of undead is persistent. ;) I see it that way: Orcus prepares something nasty against Demo, wich's heads argue wich one goes to kill fatso. Goat beats Demo by wild chance, and imprisons It's essence in necromantic gem. Expending a lot of valuable power and resources in the process, weakening himself a good deal by that. Then Graz'zt strikes from shadows, buffed up and beats Orcus silly ... put on Goat a belt of gender-switching and imprisons Princess Orcusa in some sort of "cage" with hired magicians. It takes Graz'zt a great deal of effort and resources to conquer Orcus's domain and Demogorgon's but without their leaders ... resistance is not as impregnable as with them. Of course Orcusa escapes at some point. And retakes her realm from Graz'zt. Both battle fiercely over the ruins of Demogorgon's realm ... in another stalemate. ^^ Results are most fitting, since now we have cute Princess of Undead. :D |
| Grandmaster_Kane07-12-07, 02:15 PM | I edited it to contain ALL of the demiurge My money is now on APOLLYON simply because he is my favorite lol |
| kreesteeyan07-12-07, 02:39 PM | APOLLYON is everyone's favorite. :D |
| Grandmaster_Kane07-12-07, 03:05 PM | Of course =) |
| Witch07-12-07, 04:08 PM | My favorite still isn't there. Then again, he's my favorite by heart, not because he's the best. In any case, all these versions are outdated. I haven't had the chance to watch them properly, but on first glance, I'd still place my bets on Demogorgon. |
| Grandmaster_Kane07-12-07, 06:36 PM | Who is your favorite exactly? |
| kreesteeyan07-13-07, 09:58 AM | Is is a yugoloth, witch? |
| Frobojoe07-13-07, 04:16 PM | Demogorgon pimps everyone. No contest. |
| Balthanon07-13-07, 05:21 PM | Gimmie a break, King of Hell have unstoppable backing that Graz'zt does not posess ... and yet, Ebon Prince managed to conquer 3 layers of chaotic and rebbelious plane. Asmodeus managed to rebuke all 8 upper levels of Hell single handedly when they rebelled from what I recall. That doesn't exactly strike me as depending upon his subjects. :) |
| Grandmaster_Kane07-13-07, 11:57 PM | Asmodeus managed to rebuke all 8 upper levels of Hell single handedly when they rebelled from what I recall. That doesn't exactly strike me as depending upon his subjects. :) He didnt He rebuked 3 And that was After he had the assistance of 3 of the other lords He is powerful but he isnt lucifer Amodeous is smarter than he was but isnt half of the combatant |
| Rikandur_Azebol07-14-07, 02:44 AM | DF Asmodeus have power to smack down whole Hell into nothingness, if his plans involve such action. Graz'zt is so much more respect-worthy, for he got not such backing as Asmodeus enjoys and yet manages. But with the rest of Abyssal thingies taken into account ... Graz'zt is still my favorite, yet I don't supose he would win as "easily" as I said in my previous post. :) |
| Witch07-14-07, 07:34 AM | Asmodeus managed to rebuke all 8 upper levels of Hell single handedly when they rebelled from what I recall. That doesn't exactly strike me as depending upon his subjects. :) Geryon's layer didn't rebell. That makes it seven layers. But the amusing part - and what really demonstrates Asmodeus' power and wit - is that the entire endeavour was a setup. He created the whole situation in order to restructure Hell and test his lords. In response to it, the majority of all pit fiends rebelled took up a fight against their former lords, forcing them into submission. He removed the Lords' abilities to maintain great standing armies (which were replaced by the Dark Ministry, which answers only to Asmodeus), banished Moloch and Geryon, and placed the seeds for Astarte's removal. And on the other note: I'm not going to reveal who my favorite is :) Yet. |
| rob_douglas07-16-07, 05:04 PM | Isn't it Dispater? Good summary of the changes. Since the Demiurges offered were all demon lords, I have to go with Demogorgon as my sentimental favorite. I have always had a soft spot, once had a 1E dungeon where the party would stumble on him and Orcus locked in battle (and try not to get noticed lest they ignore each other in favor of the mortals). My favorite archdevil has always been Baalzebul. He was the only one that ruled 2 layers, and I was sure he would won day usurp Asmodeus. Still using B in my campaign as a major manipulator of all that is going on.... ROB |
| Witch07-16-07, 08:29 PM | Isn't it Dispater? Nah :) I'm speaking of demons, as the question was about them. Ofcourse, if I had to add the possibility of NE outsiders, my choice would easily be made as well. And still unknown :D Since the Demiurges offered were all demon lords This is because "demiurge" was the former title Dicefreaks had for Demon Princes. It's since been dropped. |
| rob_douglas07-17-07, 12:56 AM | Ah - thanks for the clarification. All the mention of Asmodeus had me thinking people had expanded the query. Demon lord/prince....as yet unmentioned....Dagon, or Socothbenoth. :) Otherwise you are going to have to give us more of a clue - like sphere, or where/when you first came to notice them - or what makes them your special favorite - generically speaking of course. ROB |
| LordBOB77707-17-07, 02:51 AM | My bet is on Grazzt. Enough said |

ROB Dagon is a devil and ergo cannont be included No idea who the other guy is What makes Apolloyon my favorite is not only he awsome title (lol) but his pure destructiveness he is the epitome of what a demon is suppose to be. Graz'zt - the most cunning, planning, ruthless of them all (imo). That is debateable but he is the most cunning no question I wonder how many assistents he would have if he rallied all of his children?..... |
| Taeldrin Laesrash07-17-07, 03:23 PM | Dagon is a devil and ergo cannont be included No idea who the other guy is What makes Apolloyon my favorite is not only he awsome title (lol) but his pure destructiveness he is the epitome of what a demon is suppose to be. Dagon's been described as a demon by Dragon, WotC, and I think some 2E supplements. Given its origins, I personally think it's better as a demon. Also, I really don't think the point of demons is just to be destroyers. CE is also many other bad things, like perverted Socothbenoth or untrustworthy Fraz-Ur'Bluu. |
| Witch07-17-07, 03:35 PM | Dagon has been portrayed as both Demon and Devil in WotC canon; the devil is an outcast on Avernus that's been renamed to Dagon in order to annoy the Demon Lord, if I recall correctly. In the Dicefreaks Cosmos, Dagon is a Duke of Stygia. |
| rob_douglas07-18-07, 09:46 AM | But Dagon was originally a demon lord - 1E monster manual II. This was also carried to Tome of Horrors. And Dagon was the subject of a movie, based on HP Lovecraft stories, of a cult of fish-man demon worshippers. Dagon is definitely a demon. :) But clearly, not Witch's favorite. Socothbenoth is the demon lord of sexual perversion. OK - last guess - Astaroth - or do you treat him as a devil as well. I think I have seen both. ROB |
| Thanael07-18-07, 10:23 AM | Dagon the devil was based more strongly on the Philistine god than on the H.P. Lovecraftian horror. The devil Dagon is based on the historical version, while mine (and the one in Book of Fiends) is based on Lovecraft's. Here's Dicefreak's Demon Dagon by Filby (and Palindrome): http://dicefreaks.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=123 |

| Witch07-23-07, 04:44 AM | Obyriths are demons. |
| Mempter07-23-07, 11:34 AM | Obyriths are demons. Sorry...I'll shut up.:( |
| Balthanon07-23-07, 12:33 PM | Sorry...I'll shut up.:( It's easy to make the mistake if you haven't read the Fiendish Codex I-- I think that was the first time I ever encountered the term. They're basically a subtype of demons though, similar to ta'nari. |
| rob_douglas07-23-07, 01:21 PM | Yeah, Eric Mona first introduced the idea as I saw it in Armies of the Abyss, with Green Ronin, but they were called Qlippotth there. I think he maintained and expanded those ideas into FCI. ROB |
