| Trigen03-17-07, 11:37 PM | So I have a character that just hit level 21.. at 20 he was a 9 Wizard/7 Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil/4 ArchMage and i realized... since i didn't put any levels into a PrCL with 10 levels... nor did I continue my baseclass... i have pretty much fubar'd my epic progression as i won't be getting any epic bonus feats for a long long long time... So what i ask you all is are there any suggestions as to what class to take next? or what feats i should take to maximize my effectiveness since I won't be getting many? Any help would be great! Ty in advance! PS: If this is the wrong spot to ask this point me to the correct spot please |

Over the short term, the fastest way to bonus feats will be to go into the Agent Retriever or Cosmic Descryer classes. If you are expecting to play past 35th level or so, then advancing your Wizard levels will eventually result in more bonus feats. |

Agreed, but I'd suggest picking up a 10 level Prc before I'd suggest 11 more wizard levels. |

PrCs generally come with abilities, and therefore a slower bonus feat progression. The wizard levels also come with 3 additional metamagic/item creation feats that can be put to good use. |
| Jaerom Darkwind03-18-07, 10:24 PM | I'd probably shoot for either Cosmic Descryer or Arcane Lord. Take your fifth Archmage level at 21 while you secure the necessary epic feat to qualify. Cosmic Descryer only grants a half caster progression, so that may not be what you're looking for, but the class features are powerful enough to make up for it for some characters. If you go this route, snag Energy Resistance at 21 and you're probably good to go (if you grabbed the right Spell Focus to qualify for Archmage). Arcane Lord is a great class for most spellcasters, but the requirement of five metamagic feats makes qualifying for it difficult. If you have those, get Improved Spell Capacity at 21st and you're all set. The other option that might appeal to you is Incantatrix, if it's available. That class is powerful enough to stay competitive even in epic levels, even without an epic feat progression. The Focused Studies requirement kind of sucks, but it's well worth it. The only hang-up might be lacking Iron Will, which you'd have to secure in your epic feat slot at 21st (unless you could convince your DM to allow you to take Epic Will in its place, which isn't unreasonable in the slightest). Focusing on the biggest and best metamagic feats for your four bonuses will allow you to almost match the power of the two or three bonus epic feat you aren't getting--for example, Twin Spell, Quicken Spell, and especially Persistent Spell (which should probably have been epic in the first place, but isn't). The other class features will make up the difference. Finally, you might just convince your DM to allow you to begin the wizard epic progression without taking the remaining 11 non-epic levels, on the ground that you've already got the whole spell progression so those levels are no longer balanced as written. It might work. |

It might work. I tried that, he said no :( i even asked if i could take the rest of normal wizard progression you know 1 bonus feat every 5 levels and use those bonus feats for epic feats and he shot that idea down also :( ... I think he's still mad that i talked him into allowing me to play an IotSV in the first place now he's loving that fact that doing it screwed me :P |
| bluemage5503-18-07, 11:41 PM | Well, in a way, this is the payment for using an IotSV. You get some pretty awesome abilities, but you're behind on the feat progression. If he really just doesn't like the IotSV, ask him if he'll allow you to retool your character and take those levels out, and then rebuild your character so that you have more wizard levels or go into a PrC. |

Hey hey hey, near Invulnerability is no reason for losing a few feats! :D hehehe I think I'll prolly try that to ask to retool to Incantrix or just finish up Wizard. I suppose it's my own fault for using such an overpowered PrC |
| Jaerom Darkwind03-19-07, 02:06 AM | Oh, and one other option would be my Master of the Sevenfold Veil epic prestige class, but that's not official material so your DM might not go for it. |
| Trigen03-19-07, 02:21 AM | Oooh where do i find that? |
