I know this may not have EPIC implications, but I've found most people on Epic threads seem to know their D&D.
Does anyone know if Cold iron is immune to Hellfire (The fire detailed in Fiendish codex II) I seen where the Hell fire engine was made of cold iron, so I wondered if a sword or armor made of cold iron would be immune to Hellfire, or does the cold iron have to be "Treated" with something?
Also, would an artifact or EPIC item be immune to Hell fire?

Cold Iron is simiply a form of Iron that is effective against Fey Creatures (e.g. penetrates their damage reduction). To the best of my knowledge it does not possess any properties that make it particularly resilient to hellfire. Cold Iron costs twice as much as normal iron (and thus weapons made of cold iron cost twice as much [e.g. a Cold Iron longsword costs 30gp instead of 15gp)]). Further it costs an extra 2,000gp to enchant Cold Iron.

Epic Items are as vulnerable as another item in many respects. As far as I know they are not immune to the effects of Hell Fire.

Artifacts are by their definition extremely resiliant to normal attempts to harm them (including with Hellfire) and can only be destroyed through very specific (campaign specific) means. While this may in specific cases involve hellfire by and large it (Hellfire) has no effect upon them.

Hope this helps.

I'm not familiar with FC I-II (hard to get those here), but it could be some kind of 'joke' for devils (fey are not the only chaotic outsiders vulnerable to cold iron ;) ) Just my two cents.

Actually, when I first read the entry on the hellfire war machine (or hellfire engine), that's exactly what I assumed. It was cold-iron to really ****-off the demons.

Yeah. You really can't destroy artifacts. I think the only methods are fulfilling a certain destruction scenario (One example from an old dragon magazine is some holy staff that can only be destroyed by using it on every layer of the abyss in one day.), Use Disjunction on it and luck out, or blast it with the Annulus.
