My PCs are in a campaign in which they will be directly involved with the Archdeukes and Demon Lords. Historically, a lot of wars have ended not on the battlefield, but by assassinating the right person at the right time. Because they will be epic, they might have the option of killing off Grazz't or Mephistopheles. In addition, they might lead a crusade against Celestia if things go awry....

The Manual of the Planes and the Codex of the Hells keep mentioning that "if so and so can beat this guy, he will have enough power to do X action". If an extra planar lord kills a rival, he gets more powerful, yes? How much more? How does this help him?

1) If a few of the Demon or Devil Lords were killed off, would that effect a War as large as the Blood War?

2) What if the seven rulers of Celestia were killed? A hard feat I know, but what if it happened?

3) What would it take (from these options) to end the multiverse?

4) Would the Gods even care - would they step in and kill the PCs? What would it take for a God to directly do something?

1) Not really. Plenty of aspiring fiends are waiting to take their places, and they tend to share the racial hatred of the opposite fiend. Heck, one member of the Dark Eight (The devils who run much of their side in the Blood War) may actually be the third fiend in the position.

2)Not as sure here, but odds are new archons would arise to take the place of the 'martyrs'.

3)Who knows? You may fundamentally realign the multiverse, but how to destroy it completely isn't really known.

4)Not much. Gods who've made deals with planar lords, gods whose realms are on a planar lord's layer, or simple like-minded gods will go after you if their interests are threatened.
