| A6x94203-05-08, 12:34 AM | My question pertains to the following: In the Epic Level Handbook, under the Factors section on page 91, the factor: Area - specifically "Increase Area by 100% = +4 DC" Does this increase of 100% apply to the base size of the spell, or does it apply to the resulting size. I.E. If a spell has an area of 20 ft. radius, and I increase it to 40 ft. radius, then the DC increases by +4. If I want to increase it again, for another +4 DC, does the spell increase in radius by 20 or 40? If 20 each time: 20 = +0 DC 40 = +4 DC 60 = +4 DC 80 = +4 DC 100 = +4 DC If increase by resulting radius: 20 = +0 DC 40 = +4 DC 80 = +4 DC 160 = +4 DC 320 = +4 DC Personally I would think that the first column is the "correct" one, however, if the second one was true, then that would lead to some very large, and cheap spells. Anyone have any opinions on this? |

The method you explained only applies to the so called D&D units, while real world units follow normal rules of mathematics. For example, 2 minutesx2x2 becomes 8 minutes rather than 6, but multiplying something like Power attack ratio works the way you said. |
