EPIC POISONS! [Archive] - Wizards Community

I was just reading the updated Web Enhancements on the Wizards.com site when I came across a section dealing with Epic Poisons, now although the DCs are rather low, these extremely expensive poisons may perhaps contain a hidden gem.

Here's the decriptive text:

While most high-level characters largely ignore the
threat of deadly toxins, some particularly devious villains
have devised variant poisons that bypass common
defenses. These poisons, often referred to as antimagic
poisons, are effectively an antimagic field in toxic liquid
(or gel) form. As such, they are totally unaffected by
any magical effects that might protect against their
effects, including spells such as delay poison or neutralize
poison, supernatural resistances or immunities to
poison, or even magical bonuses on saves against
poison (such as from a cloak of resistance or periapt of proof
against poison). Even nonpermanent enhancements to
the victim’s ability scores do not apply to saves to resist
antimagic poisons.

So we see that the poisons ignore a vast aray or magic protections against the poisons itself, but I wonder, if your blade is coated in an antimagic field, then would it not also ignore Bracers of Armor, or the Enhancement bonus of Armors, even Deflection Bonuses would be supressed as the toxic coated blade passed thru their area.

What do you guys think? It seems logical to me, the question is, is this another "logic doesn't apply to D&D" moment? Or is it a hidden gem!?

08-25-07, 04:33 AM effectively an antimagic field in toxic liquid(or gel) form.

Under normal conditions, an antimagic field has an effective area (form) of a sphere and it affects everything magical inside it. This is just in a liquid form, meaning that it's effect works only inside the liquid.

08-25-07, 01:34 PM No it wouldn't work. It's intended to mean that it bypasses magical protection from poisons. Nothing in the rest of the description suggests it has any other use. Poor wording on their part.

anywho.. if you smacked the bracers with the sword you might be able to..

this would be one for individual DM though..
