| SonorusSmudge05-05-07, 11:24 PM | Is there any restrictions on who can use a spell with witch seed? For example, could a wizard use a spell with the heal seed? That doesn't seem right. No clerics needed! Am I missing something? |
| bluemage5505-05-07, 11:44 PM | By the RAW, a wizard only needs 24 ranks in Knowledge (religion) or Knowledge (nature) to do so. However, this seems to be out-of-line with the designer intent, as it would seem that those spells should be restricted to being cast as divine spells. See the revision thread in my signature for a revision that addresses this. I broke up Epic Spellcasting into two distinct feats (one for arcane, the other for divine, and this can be extended to other spellcasting systems such as psionics with additional similar feats), and made the requirement that spells using the heal and life seeds requires Epic Spellcasting (divine) |

Arcane casters generally have the benefit of using Int as their primary score (which results in a bigger Spellcraft check). Those that rely on Charisma are spontaneous casters, which gives them the benefit of spontaneous epic spells (a huge, huge boon). |

I have no problems with wizards in my games using the heal and life seeds provided they have the religion ranks. There are many places where the lines are blurred between what a cleric or wizard can and cant do anymore. I have no problems with an arcane healing epic spell(especially if cast by a bard, and yes Ive had an epic-spellcasting bard before!). |
| Karsus the Mad05-06-07, 10:21 PM | There's also high magic rituals using the heal and life seed in FR. High mages are specifically arcane spellcasters... I think if a spellcaster (any kind) has achieved the ability to cast epic spells, type of magic (arcane or divine) is simply irrelavent. They've a reached a point beyond semantics. |
