(Help!) From Epic to Basic... [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-15-07, 12:29 PM Hi, I tried in the "feats section" but didn´t get the response needed so I came here.

I need opinion about the following change on two epic feats:

Dire Charge: Instead of BBA +21 as prerequisite, it would become BBA +16 and it would work just like the pounce ability. Special abilities like "Smite Evil" wouldn´t work with Dire Charge. Fighter bonus feat.

Reason for changing it: With the Barbarian (see Complete Champion)class getting it for free at lvl ONE in place of +10ft made me believe that this feat shouldn´t be epic at all.

and...

Wield Oversized Weapon: Instead of BBA +21 as prerequisite, it would become BBA +14 . And Str 17+.

Reason for changing it: Why taking off -2 penalty on attacks should be Epic? It doesn´t make sense.

I´m no munchikin, and I don´t like Tome of Battle. My group is not after salad fruits (a character with two or more prestige classes) or more and more damage. So, I´d like to see your opinion on this subject with no "munchikinsm" on it, please. :P ;)

06-15-07, 01:04 PM Those are just fine. Certainly they are less powerful than the powercreep you have already mentioned. For the second one, are you aware of monkey grip?

Yes, I know Monkey Grip is a prerequesite to Weild Oversized Weapon. It´s weird to a character has the need to get 2 feats (one of them epic) only to wild a weapon that is a category larger than him.

Even more when there are many other feats that can put extra damage without that, like Power Attack, weapon specialization, etc...

06-15-07, 03:35 PM Other then Monkey Grip sucking, removing a +2 penalty is equivalent to adding a +2 bonus. Compare to Epic Weapon Focus? 1.5 epic feats for +4 damage is pretty bad.

Just fine. Monkey grip is so bad, they made and item to replace it: strongarm bracers (MIC).

I'm pretty new to epic, but I really like the tweaks you made there. I applaud you. Mind checking out my thread? I've never played in an epic game before, so I could use some advice.
