I have a question for the contributors of this forum regarding "epic" level druids.

I am a 2nd edition DM, and 2nd edition is unfortunately lacking in rules regarding druids who exceed 20th level. 1st edition does not give much more either, as 1st edition goes only up to 23rd level hierophant druid, whose extra powers allow him only to travel to the para-elemental and quasi-elemental planes and the like. What about beyond 23rd level? Do they ever get more spells? What other powers might they receive?

I am largely unfamiliar with 3rd edition "epic" rules, and I was hoping some of you might fill me in as to what a "generic" 3.5 edition druid's powers might be beyond 20th level (or the equivalent). Any info would be welcomed so I can try to synthesize and convert it into 2nd edition.

Also, if anyone has any extra time, info on 21st level+ rangers and paladins in 3rd edition would also be helpful. In 2nd edition, their spellcasting powers grind to a complete halt at 20th level, never to increase again. Is this the same in 3rd edition?

Any help would be appreciated.

Everything you need is here, under the epic section: http://www.d20srd.org/

thanks for the reply bluemage.

unfortunately i'm not sure that that particular 3rd edition stuff will help me too much... it wasn't quite what I was hoping for, as it does not translated well to 2nd edition.

Other hierophant info? anywhere?

In general, all classes stop granting new abilities after lv20. You have to take epic feats to simulate the new abilities.

Basically yes. The only way to get more slots is by taking the improved spell capacity feat. Caster lv will continue to scale though.

There is a 2E book named Dungeon Master Option: High-Level Campaigns (http://home.flash.net/~brenfrow/dd1/hilvl.htm) which you might want to check out for 2E highlevel play. You can get it as a pdf for 4$ here (http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/w/wizardsOfTheCoast/byProductType/roleplayingGames/dungeonsDragons/aDAndD2/rulebooks/campaignBooks/v5748btpy7mqs&source=search) or on ebay for abotu the same probably. There's also the 2E Tome of Magic (http://paizo.com/store/byCompany/w/wizardsOfTheCoast/byProductType/roleplayingGames/dungeonsDragons/aDAndD2/rulebooks/magicCompendiums/v5748btpy7msa&source=search), which does have a sort of epic spellcasting.

As for the hierophant druids using 1E rules together with 2.5E is easily done. If I'd play 2E i would heavily mix it with 1E stuff. But 2E doesn't really work at much higher than 20th level. The two book above helps a bit as do the complete xxx books. But only so far.

If you want to know what 3E rules do you'll really have to get into 3E rules. Get yourself a used 3E PHB cheap and read it through, afterwards you'll make much more sense of the SRD and learn to appreciate the OGL. That's what i did, and i can say i am now a 3E convert. but much 3E stuff does not translate well back into 2E. I know i did use the 3E spell descriptions sometmies to clarify a 2E spell. But Epic play and epic spellcasting, classes and prestige classes don't translate back to 2E.
