| kreesteeyan05-27-07, 02:04 PM | He just wants to share. About the topic, I've been only playing for three years. |
| Bernat05-27-07, 03:19 PM | I've been playing for 5 years now, but switching between many systems. My first character was a level 12 human wizard, who reached level 16. I can still remember the day I lost my +3 holy spellstoring dagger of Mystra to a rust monster... I immediatelly baleful polymorphed the rust monster into a turtle, which I later put in an aquarium filled with thorns. Well, at least it helped when I later polymorph'ed into a rust monster to take care of a couple iron golems... The worst of all was that the DM (and I) forgot to roll the save for my dagger, but, guess what? The paladin of the group and his stupid (and funny :)) code of conduct made him tell the DM about the save. Today, I still recall him he owes me one :). |
| itwasntme05-27-07, 03:37 PM | been playing for allmost 10 years now my first game was eveyone is level 1 you must enter the city and get to the temple within 6 hours oh by the way there are orcs goblins kobolts orges orge mages vampires mind flyers skeltons zombies and lot of other creatures in the city ... and no you will not level up intell after a week of playing in game i was in short a fighter/mage/rouge hell i didnt know what to play so i tryed all 3 i ended up saveing the group by random luck leading them though the town and underground but died by three natrual 1's in a roll by a posin gas trap .... only thing we had going for us was that there where 8 players each playing a character and then the DM well it wasnt getting to the Temple that killed me it was getting out ... |
| Kihon05-27-07, 08:28 PM | 25 years...and counting... I loved "keep on the boarderlands" and "isle of dread" from the first basic D&D box sets. Then came first addition AD&D... years pass and we get 2nd edition...and more years pass...and then 3rd edition and not so many years pass and we get 3.5.... and now rumors of 4th edition....hmmm sounds like some company just wants to make money now (but don't they all?). I remember TSR being in Lake Geneva, WI - and driving past - wow those were the days.... LOL. High School, College, Ten Year class Reunions, 20 year class Reunions, and numerous games throughout the years ---- The game has seen me through good times and rough ones... |
| Infinitum05-27-07, 08:40 PM | I wonder what is going to be changed in 4th Ed. |
| rob_douglas05-27-07, 10:42 PM | Summer 1981 - I had an Elf names Gaylord. He lasted all of 2 rooms. Gaylord Jr. eventually ruled an entire continent, and owned every magic item I could write down.... 26 years this summer - and still counting (though I had a long break post-college). First hard-cover boook I bought was Deities and Demigods with the Cthullu mythos. First Dragon magazine was #63 - which introduced the Barbarian. ROB |
| bluemage5505-28-07, 08:33 PM | I wonder what is going to be changed in 4th Ed. Notable changes that are likely up for consideration are class balancing, folding the many skills into much fewer ones, streamlined combat rules, and the condition track introduced in Saga Edition. |
| AkaKageWarrior05-29-07, 03:59 AM | 21 years now - OMG! started with a AD&D 1st edition cleric, survived until level 4. my next character was a fighter with these ridiculous stats due to free point assignment: str 18/00 (remember this stupid strength scoring rule, when 1 ability point meant a difference of +1/+1 (str17) to +3/+6 (str18/00) ? ) dex 18 con 18 int 9 wis 9 cha 9 even worse, that guy was about 6ft8inches large and weighed only 130 pounds... but he came up to level 13, until we played that damn "The Jingling Mordo Circus"... our DM didn't want to play anymore, and he did not understand that it was a game for fun... anyway, it's still getting better! | Drake_the_Windseeker06-02-07, 11:19 AM | I've been playing for almost 9 years and counting. Good times have been had. |
| wizzzzzard06-03-07, 06:27 PM | This weekend represents my 27th year mark. My neighbor brought home the Red Box basic edition from vacation. I started with a fighter, named Perseus. This was before the Clash of the Titans movie. I'd had a working knowledge of greek mythology before encountering D&D. Also knew a little Arthurian legends, and some Egyptian myths as well. I ran through the Caves of Chaos/Keep of the Borderlands, and killed 15 orcs before I ran into a Bugbear, who killed me in about 3 rounds. My neighbor & I took turns DM'ing, and running for each other, over the weekend, until we got a good feel for it. He played an Elf, and switched between fighters and wizards. After that we got the other neighborhood boys involved. I still remember thier signature characters: KG: Toran Dwarf Fighter AB: Dalben Grey Elf Thief GK: Mercious Human Cleric of Zeus Me: Kalman Human Wizard My brother was the cleric. Some time later, I got the girls in the area to give it a try. EG (KG's sister): Astrid Human Fighter DB (AB's sister): Dana Human Thief JD (next door neighbor): Thyren Human Cleric of Hermes JE Human Wizard JE wasn't from the area, but visited enough that it didn't matter. I ran a game, which was technically an arena game, in which the girls pitted thier characters against the boys. The 'prize' was that if the girls won at least two of the matches, they could play in our group. If not, then they could not. Girls won 3 out of 4. Another DM ran the fight between me and JE's wizard. I clobbered her, thanks to a nearly encyclopedic knowledge of the spells from the book. Needless to say, the guys all later admitted, that letting the girls play too, made the game a lot more fun. A lot of gaming has happened over the years. Including a hiatus after getting out of the army, playing horror games, and supehero games more. That was fun, too, but nothing compares to trekking up the mountain to face the dragon, defeating it soundly, and making off with a hoard that would make a king jealous. Ahh...memories. |
