| Morannon06-29-07, 02:33 PM | So I'm preparing my Psion for epic levels and looking ahead at the feat trees. Am I missing something, or is the Improved Manifestation feat basically garbage compared to the Improved Spell Capacity feat? Improved Spell Capacity gives you 1 spell slot higher than you can already cast. Improved Manifestation basically gives you enough PSPs to manifest a power equivalent to 1 level higher than you can already manifest. The difference? Improved Spell Capacity also gives you bonus spells in that slot for high ability scores while Improved Manifestation does not. So a wizard taking Improved Spell Capacity with a high enough Int usually gets 2 or 3 additional spell slots, while the manifester only gets the equivalent of 1. Is that right, or am I missing something? Should each purchase of Improved Manifester add 2 class levels (the equivalent of a spell level) to the Bonus PSPs for High Ability Scores table as well? |

Psions get screwed in epic on PP because augmenting is uncapped and that is supposed to be that balancing factor to prevent psions from novaing even better in epic. Since nothing but ML caps augmentation (wizard spells cap), a lack of PP is supposed to be the limiting factor. |
| wonlee7606-29-07, 03:33 PM | I might be mistaken but I thought Improved Spell Capacity gave you 0 slots higher than your highest level spell you can cast and in order to get an actual slot, you need to have the appropriate spellcasting ability score grant you the bonus slot to use... |
| Morannon06-29-07, 03:42 PM | Nope. According to the SRD anyway Imp Spell Cap does give you 1 slot plus bonuses. Thanks for the explanation, archerpwr. Makes sense, I guess. Still not sure that they've put a lot of effort into balancing anything at epic levels... |

At epic in order to survive, you pretty much are a caster with 16 bab. No other feasable way to approach things except maybe a frenzied barbarian to warhulk. Even then, an epic spell that costs nothing but a day to develope and an epic spell slot gives a better benefit than a "pure melee" build. |

| archerpwr06-29-07, 04:33 PM | Get your 20 levels of Psion, and then move on to another class once you hit epic level. Wouldnt Ranger 2/ Psion 8/ Slayer the rest be better? Doesnt psionics get more powerpoints based on manifestor level and ability score? Or is my unfamiliarity with psionics ignoring that bonus PP caps at ML 20? |
| Kihon06-30-07, 04:36 PM | I really like a 20th level Psion. They are really powerful. They have access to things that are unique. I personally don't see much advantage to them after 20 levels, and I would switch over to something completely different. You still keep all their coolness. Now someone out there is going to talk about maximizing the character. I say play what makes you happy and you have fun with. You'll have fun with a 20th lvl psion. |
