My friends and I are going to go hooptie and try a level 50 party. One wizard, one erudite, and one archivist and we're trying to come up with decent builds.....any ideas? I don't mind looking up an obscure class....just let me know where it is and the basic jist.

Thanks

Any idea what you'll be facing? There's not a whole lot of Core threats at 50. Let's see- Hecatocheires, Prismatic Dragon, Force Dragon, Devastation Beatle, Advanced-Paragon-or Pseudonatural Versions of ELH monsters.

General advice- Get immunity to as many effects as you can. Items with high Caster Level are a must. Let's see, ideal outfit:

Ring of Solar Wings, Mind Shielding, and Protection +10
Ring of Universal Elemental Immunity and Free Action
Soulfire Heavy Fortifaction Graceful Armor
Belt of Epic Magnificence +12 orPotions of Intensified Extended Animal Affinity (Bull's Strength, etc)
Headband of True Seeing
Tomes +5 to Stats
10+ Ioun Stones of Spell Absorbsion
Amulet of Natural Armor +12, Retribution, and Proof Against Poison
Starmantle Cloak of Resistance +10
+6 Weapon of Keen/Impact Speed Vorpal Ghost Touch
Boots of Swiftness
+5 Animated Tower Shield of Spell Reflection

That's only a basic laundry list that I use, you'll probably want more

Dip in Paladin for Divine Grace
Saint is a great Template
See if you can't pick up Improved Evasion and Improved Mettle
Sr Is your friend
For Spells- Time Stop, Gate, Greater Celerity, Mass Heal, True Ressurection, Miracle, Sublime Revelry, Bite of the Werbear, Owl's Insight, Grave Strike, etc are all good. Magic Missile can be great with tons of metamagic (Like 800+ damage)
For casters, design a long-duration Epic Mage Armor with a way better Armor Bonus.

I tend to start with an idea of what the group wants to accomplish, the setting, and any plot lines we may want to cover. Philosophies that people are interested in and then build the character around his personality, not the powers that will kick butt.
Hope that helps/.

Your wizard may want something gish-ish (Gish being a fighter/wizard), something like Wizard 5/Fighter 1/Eldritch Knight 10/Abjurant Champion 5/Incantrix the rest. Likewise, give the Erudite Slayer levels (From the SRD, not the Expanded Psionics Handbook), you'll get immunity to mind-affecting effects.

And if your going Caster, spells with no save and no SR are a must. Get an Epic Ward against MDJ. Spell Stowaway Time Stop is a great choice.

If you're using a warrior-type at all, this is the point where fighters and the like truly outclass clerics and druids at melee. If you can control it, a Frenzied Bersekrer can annihilate with Power Attack, Leap Attack, Shcok Trooper, and Dire Charge.

Keep in mind, I've only run 2-3 high epic games before (and I dm'ed 2 of the 3) so my advice might not be the best. We use alot of houserules too.

Just throw 2 Xixecal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/monsters/abomination.htm#xixecal) at them, that should challenge them... from 1000 miles away (i'm talking about the cold aura at double strength). Then have the dragons flying around them all be dracoliches. That should be a good challenge for them.

We have been given very little in the way of setting (I'm thinking he's still in the mid-stages of development and hasn't even really made up his mind).

I'll be playing the part of the Wizard. I was thinking of focusing on either Abjuration and/or Necromancy (whether or not that translates into Specialization remains to be seen). I'd like full spellcasting progression, but would love to see a WIDE variety of special abilities (like the various master specialist abilities if I decide to specialize in Abjuration). I will likely turn to lichdom (or something similar).

The Archivist doesn't particularly care for the non-spellcasting capabilities of his base class and would like for some alternatives to Dark Knowledge. He's game for just about any prestige class that will keep full progression (or close).

The Erudite is looking for unique special abilities while keeping as much of his manifesting as possible.

Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks
