So, just how would one go about cretng an Epic Spell to create a Warforged, in the same manner as the Origin of Species: Achaierai spell?

(And should the OoS spell be a permanent duration? Doesn't that mean the critter disappears if in an Antimagic Field?)

Remember, anti-magic fields don't work on epic spells, though it does bring up weather or not they may be dispelled by epic level arcanists. At the point where my characters start creating species though, I'd start considering giving them divine ranks and holding that divinely created beings may not be dispelled.

Other than that, you'd just be modifying the extras you add on to the basic seeds. Remove that creatures special abilities, add sufficient warforged ones, and presto. As far as them being metal goes, it's just a more significant difference in chemical composition than that of a human and dwarf. A bit more iron in their blood as it were. Possibly use animate instead of life would be the only major difference, just make sure it's given consciousness.

Isn't the whole "giving it consciousness" thing part & parcel of the OoS spell (either the conjure or the life aspect)?

The spell would probably have to be of instantaneous duration (Which would give it a heck of a DC). You'd need an application of the Fortify seed, ad hoc natural attacks, and with the ability modfications, I'm seeing a DC in the 400s.

I get the feeling that warforged weren't created by an epic spell, but by a creation process similar to creating a golem.

In that case, most anyone with Craft Construct could make one ;)

Warforged are created with the help of an artifact dealie known as a "Creation Forge" which is what gives them their consciousness/soul. That's the tricky part-golems have the cognitive capability of a lizard whereas a warforged is on the level of a human (wisdom and charisma penalties nonwithstanding). Without the creation forge you're making those crappy proto-warforged.

Yes, and Achaierai are created when a Mommy Achaierai and a Daddy Achaierai love each other very much... but they can also be made with an Epic spell. And that's what I'm looking for -- help in developing an Epic spell that'd let an Epic caster create a Warforged/Warforged-like critter. Things like

* By how much should it's immunity to disease, energy drain, exhaustion, fatigue, nausea, paralysis, poison, and sleep effects adjust the spell?
* By how much should the freedom from eeding to eat, sleep or breathe adjust the spell?
* By how much should it's Armor Plating ability adjust the spell?
* By how much should it's Light Fortification ability adjust the spell?
