| DemonDragonJ04-23-08, 05:36 PM | Are there any other automatic metamagic feats beyond the three given in the Hypertext D20 SRD? (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/epic/feats.htm#automaticQuickenSpell) If there are, where can they be found, and if not, how feasible would it be to create more, such as an "automatic empower spell" or "automatic widen spell?" Regardless of the answer to my previous questions, I have created two such feats of my own, which I shall post below. Automatic Consecrate Spell [epic, exalted] Your spells are infused with holy energy. Prerequisites Spellcraft 28 ranks, consecrate spell, ability to cast 9th-level arcane or divine spells. Benefit All 0, 1st-,2nd-, and 3rd-level spells that you cast are automatically affected as if by the consecrate spell metamagic feat (see the Complete Divine for the description of this feat) without any adjustment of their spell level or casting time. Special You can take this feat multiple times; each time you take it, your next three levels of spell are automatically consecrated. Automatic Corrupt Spell [epic, vile] Your spells are infused with unholy energy. Prerequisites Spellcraft 28 ranks, corrupt spell, ability to cast 9th-level arcane or divine spells. Benefit All 0, 1st-,2nd-, and 3rd-level spells that you cast are automatically affected as if by the corrupt spell metamagic feat (see the Complete Divine for the description of this feat) without any adjustment of their spell level or casting time. Special You can take this feat multiple times; each time you take it, your next three levels of spell are automatically corrupted. The concept of such feats seemed fairly simple to me, so I made them. :D How are they? |
| Tequila_Sunrise04-23-08, 08:04 PM | Looks fine to me. I always wondered why they only wrote three auto feats, so I actually created a template for others in my own ELH. (see the second link in my sig) TS |
| Taeldrin Laesrash04-23-08, 10:41 PM | I agree, they look good. I always wanted Automatic Extend Spell. |
| Kain_Darkwind04-23-08, 10:59 PM | Tequila Sunrise's version of producing Automatic Metamagic from regular metamagic is both simple and extremely functional. I believe there was an Automatic Violate Spell or Automatic Corrupt Spell produced long ago on the Wizards site, for Epic Insights or something like that. You might be capable of finding it in the archives. Then again, you might not be. |

Long time, no see, Kain! :D I am sorry to say that I do not know who Tequila Sunrise is, if that is the name of a user on this forum, so I have no knowledge of his/her version of automatic metamagic. :( Anyway, here are some more automatic metamagic feats that I have created myself. Automatic Empower Spell [epic] Your spells are far more powerful than normal. Prerequisites Spellcraft 30 ranks, empower spell, ability to cast 9th-level arcane or divine spells. Benefit All 0, 1st-,2nd-, and 3rd-level spells that you cast are automatically affected as if by the empower spell metamagic feat (see the Player’s Handbook for the description of this feat) without any adjustment of their spell level or casting time. Notes If a spell could not normally be affected by the empower spell feat, it cannot be affected by this feat either. Special You can take this feat multiple times; each time you take it, your next three levels of spell are automatically empowered. Automatic Enlarge Spell [epic] Your spells have a greater range than normal. Prerequisites Spellcraft 28 ranks, enlarge spell, ability to cast 9th-level arcane or divine spells. Benefit All 0, 1st-,2nd-, and 3rd-level spells that you cast are automatically affected as if by the enlarge spell metamagic feat (see the Player’s Handbook for the description of this feat) without any adjustment of their spell level or casting time. Notes If a spell could not normally be affected by the enlarge spell feat, it cannot be affected by this feat either. Special You can take this feat multiple times; each time you take it, your next three levels of spell are automatically enlarged. Automatic Extend Spell [epic] Your spells have a greater duration than normal. Prerequisites Spellcraft 28 ranks, extend spell, ability to cast 9th-level arcane or divine spells. Benefit All 0, 1st-,2nd-, and 3rd-level spells that you cast are automatically affected as if by the extend spell metamagic feat (see the Player’s Handbook for the description of this feat) without any adjustment of their spell level or casting time. Notes If a spell could not normally be affected by the extend spell feat, it cannot be affected by this feat either. Special You can take this feat multiple times; each time you take it, your next three levels of spell are automatically extended. Automatic Widen Spell [epic] Your spells can affect a greater are than normal. Prerequisites Spellcraft 28 ranks, widen spell, ability to cast 9th-level arcane or divine spells. Benefit All 0, 1st-,2nd-, and 3rd-level spells that you cast are automatically affected as if by the widen spell metamagic feat (see the Player’s Handbook for the description of this feat) without any adjustment of their spell level or casting time. Notes If a spell could not normally be affected by the widen spell feat, it cannot be affected by this feat either. Special You can take this feat multiple times; each time you take it, your next three levels of spell are automatically widened. I chose the most commonly-used and straightforward of the metamagic feats to make automatic versions of; there are other metamagic feats, but those produce more esoteric effects, so at this moment, I do not have plans to make automatic versions of them. By the way, why is it that the automatic still spell feat has a higher prerequisite than does the automatic silent spell feat (27 ranks in spellcraft as opposed to 24 ranks)? Aren't they virtually identical in their effects? |

There's a link in his sig to his revised ELH pdfs which include his auto-metamagic system. |

I feel very foolish right now; I should have paid attention and thought before posting. :embarrass  I am very sorry, TS, for not noticing your post. I hope that I have not offended you. |
| Tequila_Sunrise05-01-08, 02:58 PM | No offense taken; as ye olde Geico once said unto the masses "We all do stupid things sometimes, but paying for car insurance shouldn't be one of them." TS |
| Taeldrin Laesrash05-01-08, 08:08 PM | The new ones look pretty good. The required Spellcraft ranks can probably be toned down, though. If Automatic Quicken needs 30, then something far less important like Widen or Enlarge can certainly go down. |

I am glad, and relieved, to hear those words. And now that I am aware of your existence, I have visited the web page to which the links in your signature lead. I think that some of your material is quite impressive; you certainly seem to have devoted a great amount of time and effort to it. The new ones look pretty good. I like that idea, so I shall follow your advice. |
