| kalstrand07-28-07, 03:03 PM | Has anyone seen any good 3rd party epic sources? I am specifically looking for a more managable epic spell system but any kind of epic rules would be helpful. |
| Tequila_Sunrise07-28-07, 04:59 PM | I've heard great things about the Immortal's Handbook, but I don't know if it uses a different spell system. Personally, I just continue with spell slot progressions and make my own 10+ level spells. After all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! |
| NinjaPenguin07-28-07, 05:01 PM | On Dicefreaks forums Feanmerc and a couple others have put together an alternate Epic Spellcasting system if that's what you're after. I like it a lot more than the default, as it combines some good elements from it with the simplicity of spell slots. |
| Witch07-28-07, 05:04 PM | Feanmerc is what I generally use. It works out well. It also functions pretty good together with Immortal's Handbook stuff, until UK releases his own magic system. I recommend checking the following two sites for Epic Material: www.immortalshandbook.com community.dicefreaks.com The first one has some for-pay products, but has a lot of free stuff. The second is a messageboard with lots of free design. |
| Alias07-29-07, 02:27 PM | There's also this system (http://shtar.pbwiki.com/f/LSC.zip), which is a really simple level-based system. Immortalshandbook.com is probably the best source for epic stuff, though; I don't much care for Dicefreaks because they use a lot of their own rules (caps on levels and stats, custom templates, etc.), whereas UK scales it for all power levels. |
| Witch07-29-07, 04:28 PM | It's to be said that, while UK does scale for all power levels, he diverges far more from generic epic rules, though. To the point of the elimination of epic attack bonus, at the moment. |
| Kihon07-29-07, 07:26 PM | A bit off topic, but 'Witch' is a little bias in favor of Dicefreaks. It is my understanding that Witch does some work for them. Is that correct? It's not a bad thing, it's just a thing so people understand a person's point of view. I personally like a lot of stuff that they do, but not everything - and that's my point of view. |
| Witch07-29-07, 08:15 PM | Oh, yes, I do. I never denied bias - people can see in my signature what I support :) I do like UK's work, though, aside from his recent work on revised classes. I don't think there's many other epic designers out there, though (and it's fairly normal that you don't like everything you find on the boards, ofcourse :)). |
