I have a rather major problem concerning the Zone of Speed spell from the Book of Eldritch Might. My PCs are going to fight the Tarrasque and I am sure the party`s Wizard will cast this spell to pin the Tarrasque. However, the Tarrasque occupies a 30-foot by 30-foot area, while this spell affects everything in a 20-foot radius sphere. Will it work against the Tarrasque? I know that if the Tarrasque was smaller, it would definetely work, but the area cannot "cover" the whole Tarrasque. What happens if I succeed at the save of the spell`s DC? Do I move at double the Wizard`s chosen speed, or do I completely negate the effect? Please, enlighten me, it is a matter of great importance!:thinks:

The spell was updated in the Complete Book of Eldritch Might (a compilation of the three regular books by a similar name). Thus a successful save will still force your maximum speed to be double that set for the zone. (Its saving throw is now "Fortitude partial (see text)".)

As to the fact that the Tarrasque is bigger than the spell's effect (actually 20' in diameter)...I don't know what that would do. Buy a Normal Metamagic Rod of Sculpting (21.6K gp) to increase the area to a 20'-radius spread and you'll make it a moot point.

Why is this on the Epic Boards, though?

I simply couldn`t think if this is the right place to post it when I was typing. Sorry, I did so because I know there are a lot of experienced people here to guide me (poor little me :weep: ).
