I am looking for suggestions concerning the following:

I have an on going epic group in which the characters do a bit of plane hoping. Their home is Greyhawk, spent some time in FR, sigil, the abyss, and a midevil sweden (Norse Myths). Well here's the situation - Greyhawk is threatened with Eternal Blizzard (Winter Night) where epic ice creatures, gods, demons, etc... have frozen half the world and for political reasons the powers of Greyhawk have only sent a few avatars to try and deal with the situation (not having much luck). One of the characters is a Paladin of Freedom - of Sif (Norse Goddess of Combat). As her epic champion he can summon her (avatar) and was thinking of doing so to assist with the battle in the Greyhawk world. Think she would show up? Think she could? If she did show up, and decided to fight - would the Greyhawk powers accept her help, fight it, something else? Thoughts?... Thanks in advance.

Does the god have anything more important to worry about? If this is her #1 champion and the survival of a world is on the line, I would say no. What else would the avatar do?

Well, the general rule in Greyhawk is no external deific intervention is allowed. Only the gods with homes on the Material Plane can do something, and St. Cuthbert can show up to counter Iuz specifically, by agreement of the gods council.

However, as Sif is not Greyhawk canon, you have a lot of options. She could go ahead and show up, and defy the will of the "Greyhawk" gods, and then that could result in its own kind of strife, perhaps then pitting Cuthbert against her - not the least of which because of her Chaotic alignment. Then you get to have the argument about the greater good and law v.s chaos.

As it is your campaign, I see no compelling reason that at this level an avatar could not be manifested for this purpose.

Thanks for the input - a good conversation to ensure!!!

PS - sorry for the double post -- I posted here & in the gods section, as I wanted as much input as possible, and I know not everyone reads both sections.
