Insert Greeting,

I've been wondering about published epic-level adventures or modules, especially in Forgotten Realms. I've only found reference to one such product, something referred to as the "Storm Lord's Keep", but searches haven't turned up much detail. Does anyone know of any published adventures, online or otherwise, for characters of 21st level and higher?

I'm very open to anything homebrew in terms of ideas that folks here on the boards might have, too.

Thanks very much for your time,

There are a bunch mentioned in the FAQ at the top of this forum. It actually then points to the Epic Compendium, which is here: (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=289095)

Here is the section on adventures (with links to Door and Ubercyst):

Door to Simit Al (3.5 (http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php%3Fproducts_id%3D5027))
The Kaorti Ubercyst (FF 3.5 (http://boards1.wizards.com/leaving.php?destination=http://www.wizards.com/default.asp%3Fx%3Ddnd/re/20030916x%26origin%3D))
Quicksilver Hourglass (Dungeon 123)
The Razing of Redshore (Dungeon 92, p72)
The Storm Lord's Keep (Dungeon 93, p68)

Razing of redshore is technically not an epic adventure, since it was designed with a lv20 party in mind, though it does use ELH mechanics and pits you against epic foes (rather inefficiently designed, but epic nonetheless).:)

Hmm, none of those seem to be particularly what I had in mind. The Ubercyst seemingly has the potential for perhaps two or three encounters at best, and most of the other solutions either aren't available or don't meet my needs. I even picked up a copy of Power of Faerun and browsed through that, but I was grievously disappointed (a level 23 ranger with an AC of 20? A single CR40 dragon?).

What I'm really looking for is probably best described as a "locale" - a floorplan of a dungeon or structure with perhaps 5-15 interesting encounters (EL's 20+) of creatures ranging from CR 18 to 28. If there's nothing like that, perhaps we could put our heads together here on the boards and come up with some sort of "toolbox" of such objects.

You could go through the Maps of Mystery in Dungeon, or on the Wizards site, and see if any inspire you. You then have to choose the monsters and such to add in.

I guess I am still not sure of what you are looking for, since in my case, the adventures stem from seeking something or someone for a purpose, and then putting the baddies in as obstacles. In general I find that site-based epic adventures are not deep dungeon crawls because Epic characters don't have to slug through all that. That is the problem I found with Kerleth's Tower in the ELH.

You could also try Maure Castle, but that needs significant upscaling to get the ECLs you are looking for. Quicksilver Hourglass seems like it would fit, except it is too high level perhaps.

Oh, Dragons of Faerun has more powerful dragons if you prefer.

Could you suggest a couple of items for your toolbox?

That's just it - most epic games tend to ignore the idea of anything site-based, since players can use spells or abilities to bypass virtually all mundane dungeons and so on. However, there are surely dungeons out there that REQUIRE these abilities to traverse - the ELH makes mention of dungeons which have no ground, and therefore require fly spells, or of dungeons that are vertical with unconnected rooms to teleport between. The question I have is, does anyone have any examples of such things? I think it would be a useful resource to have a few sites, buildings, or even small dungeons which *require* high-level spells and abilities to defeat.

Furthermore, in addition to pulling stock monsters out of the Monster Manuals or ELH, a niche certainly exists for advanced monsters or player-race characters - but the existing supplements do a pretty poor job of making these characters realistically challenging (see above), and it's a lot of work to make even a single NPC, let alone stat out and configure a huge stack of them for use as random encounters. The DMG and ELH give "stock" classes along with "racial templates" to apply, but that's still a lot of grunt work, and anything you come up with is going to be pretty bland. What about a "Rogue's Gallery" of interesting monsters, NPCs, or even Encounter Set-Pieces like those described in Dungeonscape?

Alone, a DM can produce a few of these on his own (which I will most likely have to do, since I can't find anything), but as a community, it might be interesting and advantageous to create a "pool" of these from which an Epic DM could create an encounter or adventure, by picking a physical site layout from the site pool, adding in one or two of the monsters or encounters from the monster pool, and voila! An epic encounter or adventure at the drop of a hat, providing resources to all.

If you like, I have stats and equipment done up for around eight different enemy type characters, all 40th level, easily customizable.

They are in the list above: Quicksilver Hourglass, Storm Lord's Keep, and Razing of Redshore (barely).
