Palomides 03-24-07, 02:30 AM	I don't know if anyone know the Mayfair Lich Lords adventure (D&D 1st edtion). I'm thinking making it 3.5, which seems to me after re-reading the adventure that some Liches need to be Epic. My question is if some monster/npc are epic in an adventure, do the players need to be epic also ? What about epic/artifact magic items in a non-epic monsters adventure. Some of the Artifact/magic items that the liches have are crown that permit the to cast simultaneous spell, which would translate in the epic feat to cast multispell (feat of the same name) an a round.
bluemage55 03-24-07, 04:48 PM	PCs need to be epic or near-epic to defeat an epic foe, unless they have significant help. A party of 20th level PCs is a match for a 24th level epic character, but any higher and you're looking for the PCs to be slaughtered. Epic items should generally be used only by epic characters, because the expected wealth of a non-epic PC generally cannot afford most epic items. If you're using an epic item or artifact as a plot device however, it's fine to let PCs use such an item for a while.
