| ismaele_grimm04-13-07, 06:21 PM | Hi, I need an advice or a clearing up about the Fortify seed. The question is: Is there any limit at the maximum enhancement bonus to ability scores? I mean... Can I develop an epic spell that could grant a +20 enhancement bonus (for example) to my character's intelligence?! With a Spellcraft DC of only 55? Maybe you've already discussed about it, in that case I apologize, but I couldn't find anything around here. |

Yes, that's okay. In fact, using stat-boosting spells are a commonly suggested way to raise spell DCs. |

| rob_douglas04-16-07, 10:30 AM | But you can make it last a very, very long time. I personally suggest that the duration be reduced from 20 hours to 20 minutes - at least when used to enhance ability scores. The reason is that all the ability score enhancing spells were reduced from hours in 3.0 to minutes in 3.5. Weapon and armor enhancements were not reduced. If you still feel that the bonuses are too much - consider that without making them permanent (which is limited to +5 and becomes inherent) they are subject to dispelling and MDJ. However, if that is not enough of a limitation for you, increase the cost of each point above 6 by double, or 10 times, to mimic the fact that a magic item that gives a >+6 bonus costs 10 times as much.
