As long as you threaten and confirm, it's a crit, whether you deal damage or not. So I would say yes, they need to save or die.
runestar 03-01-08, 10:03 PM	You still crit (just that you deal no damage). I remember it was an important distinction that allowed you to power blood in the water while using it.
