For example, picture the epic cleric who has spent a 10th lv slot to cast a persistent divine power. It would suck to have it dispelled by the first foe he encounters. So he takes tenacious magic: divine power. Thus, if it does get dispelled, no need to cry buckets - you will be getting it back a few rounds later. Crucial when you consider it has a duration of 24 hours and you want to milk it for all it is worth. Same thing might go for the fighter's mindblank (courtesy of the party wizard) and you do not want to waste resources refreshing it. And so on... Okay, I know this is not necessarily the best of examples, though I hope it helps in driving my point across. Still, it does not seem all that great for an epic feat. Or am I overlooking some intricacies regarding its "real" purpose?:P |

Maybe if you combine it with a spell that is made Permanent (via Permanency) then it would be really worth it - but I can't see much that is worth that. If the DM allows you to research Permanent True Seeing, Tenacious Magic True Seeing would make it like a permanent item of the same. ROB |

| IceFractal09-01-07, 03:09 AM | One specific spell? That you can never change? Wow, I guess I hadn't read that feat very carefully before - that's pretty lousy. Maybe if it was one spell at a time, but the way it is ... Edit: Ok, I hadn't thought of the Tenacious Wish/Miracle trick - that does indeed make it significantly more useful. Also, I note that it applies to SLAs, in which case the "one only" thing is less of an issue. |

A tenacious Temporal Stasis or one of those permanent Dominate spells (Monstrous Thrall?) could be quite mean. |
| NinjaPenguin09-02-07, 08:39 PM | I very much like the idea of tenacious Monstrous Thrall or similar. That would just be crazygonuts and win. |
| runestar09-03-07, 01:32 AM | An enemy wizard peppering the party fighter with a dominate monster augmented with the tenacious magic feat...:schemes: Of course, the wizard could just counter this with a mindblank, but the potential is there... That is just plain evil! I had always thought it was useful only for buffs, but it seems like it could prove to be such a nuisance to the PCs as well.:evillaugh |
| Darimaus09-04-07, 08:13 PM | I'd say one of my favorite uses for tenacious magic has always been Death Pact out of Spell Compendium. It creates a very humorous situation where your opponenent renders you dead, starts dealing with someone else or walking away, the spell reactivates and true ressurections you, and then you shoot him in the spine. If you DM isn't picky over the nature of divine magic ect, you can also pair tenacious magic with Miracle, wish, or any other spell that can duplicate the effects of lower level spells. This grants you full customization of your tenacious spell magic, and allows you to buff considerably better. |

That's up there with casting True Resurrection on an enemies dragon scale armor. -Gene |
| BillTheManiac09-05-07, 06:52 AM | Tenacious Persistant Melf's Acid Arrow? |
| IceFractal09-06-07, 04:32 AM | Well, it works - but Resist Energy (Acid) is lower level than dispel magic anyway. Tenacious Greater Bestow Curse could be interesting. |
| Psionx09-06-07, 12:48 PM | Tenacious Baleful Polymorph |
