What to do for level 20+ [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-11-07, 03:44 AM I am participating in a game of levels 20+. The question I have is should an archivist/artificer (havent decided between the two) remain in those classes or multiclass after the 20s? If they did, what would they multiclass into?

I was originally thinking of an assassin type of character but many enemies are immune to sneak attack and death effects at that point. Maybe get smite for the archivist so divine metamagic can be used? I do not know. Any suggestions are welcomed.

05-11-07, 09:18 AM For the Artificer, go epic or go into a PrC to help with something outside of crafting (I personally allow 6th-level infusions to qualify for the Master Arcane Artisan PrC). For an Archivist, find a good PrC to go into, like Loremaster.

05-12-07, 12:14 AM There are feats in the compendium "Complete Adventurer" that will allow your character to crit undead, vermin, plants, and constructs (one feat for each). If you can crit them you can sneak attack them and death attack will work, too. Remember that most epic monsters/NPCs have darkvision, which negates the Shadow Dancers hide in plain sight ability. The spell darkness will still let you hide and so will a ring of darkhidden ("Magic of Farun") or if you dont have access to Farun material, make one- it makes you immune to darkvision and is made using invisibility (6500gp market price).

But int he magic item compedium, there are weapon crystals that let you sneak attack undead and golems

05-15-07, 05:25 PM Worse than that, there are Bracers of Deathstrike that let you crit all of them for a mere 5500 or so gold. If you allow this item in, and then custom craft around it, you can easily afford blinding strike as well as +8 and more on your bracers. But there they are if you wan them.
